Jewel didn't really mean to come up with a dance pop album. The songs on this album were written accordding to beats. From the beats, Jewel worked with Lester (a guy who produces Shakira's music) to make it into music and then filled in the lyrics. This is a very extraordinary way to write a song but Jewel has never been one to stick to the norm. The one thing that hasn't changed is, Jewel still sings bitter love songs, Jewel still sings about politics and Jewel doesn't give a damn what others think and just voices out her opinions.
The beginning track "Stand" is a song Jewel written in question to many of the world's injustice. However, it sounds too dance pop to be taken too seriously. Then there is the popular "Intuition" wherein she encourages individuality.
There are also a few dark tracks like "Haunted" and "Sweet Temptation". The latter she wrote it with a bit of inspiration to The Cure.
There's a controversial track "America" where Jewel sings about the things america is infamously famous for. Apparently, many of the lyrics of the songs had to be changed. "Fear of litigation is the new censorship" is what Jewel has to say regarding the lyrics.
Love songs wise, she is still the same. There is a slightly oriental feel to "Fragile". And of course other classic love songs "2 become 1" (not the Spice Girls song) and "2 Find U".
I feel that fans should buy the album anyway because all the elements in her songwriting still exists in this album. We all need to be more open-minded sometimes.

Although the amount of information you give is improving, it is still a bit erratic. It would
help you to read around Ciao a bit, to see how others tackle this sort of review. It is
better to write on or two reviews a day (or in my case a month) rather than to write
dozens at a time, otherwise the quality of what you write is affected and you will lose
reads. Tc Jane
