Advantages: Unique, original, underrated. Disadvantages: Not for the faint hearted / pop lover!
...'Version 2.0' is one of those albums that takes a while to get into, but it is definitely worth the effort. At first I thought 'Garbage' was by far the better album but now I've listened to 'Version 2.0' a little more, I'm finding it hard to choose between them.
'Version 2.0' is quite different to 'Garbage' and you can see how the band have developed their sound with more high tech wizardry and sound effects. There are still songs with the hard, punky edge, such as 'Wicked Ways' and 'I Think I'm Paranoid'. However, tracks like 'The Trick Is To Keep Breathing' and 'You Look So Fine' have a softer but amazingly atmospheric feel. ...WOW this is awesome! The album Yourself or someone like you is truly amazing!Matchbox 20 have come up trumps with this offering of musical wizardrey. Such tracks as "Bent" & "Kody" are brilliant and some of the best I have heard in a long time. The album is made up of amazing, thought provoking tunes and inspired lyrics which really make you think about the content of what they are singing. I have listened to this album over and over again and I never get tired of it, infact, it seems to just get better and better! I would recommend this album to those who are already fans of Matchbox 20 but also to those who have never heard of them as this is a type of soft rock nearly everyone will enjoy, and continue to enjoy for a long time to come! I take my hat off to Matchbox 20 as they have really out done themselves with this musical offering....

Advantages: Well produced Disadvantages: Less diverification than Garbage

It won an impressive Brits98 Music nomination yet for the true rock fan its slightly more 'dance'(in the lightest view of the word), was incomparable with Garbage's previous release, the highly acclaimed, pink CD Garbage. Version 2.0 was an album for the people. Designed to be a cash cow, money grabbing album and increase the ever growing worldwide support for Garbage it achieved these aims in every sense. The original album was all about the concept, the giddy rush of adrenaline and the explosion of an experimental medium little tested. version 2.0 reflects through a misty lens the vigour and emotive rampage and abandon of its predecessor it must be said.
The seamlessly fluid touch is strongly present however, but there is an uneasy tightness about each track. The songs themselves...
