So much talk. So many questions. So perhaps it's inevitable that 10,000 Days showcases a band in stasis. This is still the exact same band who made Lateralus, and to an extent, Aenima. Tool haven't changed at all in the four years ... ...Who bought into all the talk, anyway? Surely we've all learnt by now that the majority of the talk surrounding Tool is guff. If we hadn't, then all the cries that the leak was a fake surely proved it. Seemingly, some Tool fans will do anything to prove that they know the band better than every other Tool fan does. Turns out the band aren't so unique and mysterious after all. Lateralus was a runaway success, both commercially and artistically. Any ...

As always a Tool release is a seismic occurance! They have a very big expectation and they never fail to live up to it! This time round is no different, this cd is fantastic! Tool are fantastic! They deliver the goods this time round with just as much vigour and awe inspiring songwriting as last time!!
They still haven't lost thier penchant for 7 minute plus songs with mind boggling rythms, but the heaviness seems to be upped slightly this time ... ...the guitar and bass intro. The track as a whole has a wonderful chorus with a fantastic interlude. It was the first single off of this album, however its just as good as the rest of the songs!
The next track Jambi is in 5/4 time signature, which is a common feature in this album. It is a very powerful intro, and the rest of the song transgresses through lots of proggy sections, building to an amazing outro section.
The next track Wings for Marie ...

Advantages: Another great album by an amazingly talented band Disadvantages: Too much atmospheric filler, not enough tunes
...Having said that, so does 10000 Days. The opener Vicarious is a blistering rocker and probably the most technical track on the album, this is followed by Jambi another really good heavy rocker.
Other stand out tracks for me are The Pot and Right In Two, but unfortunately its all broken up by seemingly pointless meandering tracks. Knowing Tool I'm sure they have some sort of deep meaning, but when the album runs to over an hour and a quarter why ...

Additional notes
Album Notes: To its legion of fans, everything the band Tool does is an event, but the elaborate plan behind their sporadic release schedule--roughly five years, on average, between albums--is due primarily to the time and effort the band packs into each successive effort. To title their fourth album 10,000 DAYS, then, isn't as much an exaggeration as it would seem. Tool are America's most consummate mainstream perfectionists, revitalizing progressive rock to the grandeur of its '70s heyday, but updated with technocratic tension and existential dread not known to previous generations. Perhaps it's the development of more musical genres at the turn of the millennium, but it's also Tool's ability to take what is needed from each and leave the florid excesses behind, forming a seething gray core of angst and release across epic-length songs that are as accessible as they are complex. The material on 10,000 DAYS provides typically thought-provoking grist for the band's lyrical handwringing ("Vicarious" tackles reality television as the bane of culture; "Wings for Marie" is a two-part suite on the death of vocalist Maynard James Keenan's mother), and is as musically engaging as ever, finding the band at their most powerful since 1996's AENIMA.
