100 Anos De Vallenato - Various Artists

Disadvantages: takes a few listens

...upbeat, are more latin, vallenato, cumbia, and even (according to the man himself) mapalé-influenced, such as Gotas de Agua Dulce, Tres, and Bailala, as Juanes is no longer trying to imitate american or british rock in his own language, but firmly a Colombian superstar. After seeing this man live in concert, I cannot fail to, at least briefly mention the songs Clase de Amor, No Creo En El Jamas, and Bandera de Manos, all which went down a storm with the crowd, and my personal favourite on the night (very surprisingly for me, as I had after a couple of listens, dismissed it as 'the filler'), the anthemic Difícil. (Quiero gritaaaaaaaaaaaar just sounds brilliant live). Learn Spanish. Go to Colombia. See this guy in concert. If you can't do all those, at least buy this!... Read review

...Years ago wandering through an Art market in Buenos Aires I asked a friend to recommend a CD that would be a good introduction to Argentinian music. After making our way to a music store, this CD, "30 Anos" was handed to me. It was the first time I'd heard of the singer called Mercedes Sosa. Mercedes Sosa is arguably Argentina's greatest and most prolific recording artist of all time. There are many CD collections of her music and it would be difficult to recommend one above the other, but "30 Anos" is a nice introduction to her music that stretches back to the early 1960s. The CD was first released in the mid 1990s. My copy unfortunately did not contain the lyrics. For many years Mercedes Sosa was known as "the voice of the silent majority" in Latin America. Advantages: Many different types of rock and fantstic artists - the best of 2006 and 2007
Disadvantages: Could have more hardrock artists in and and second CD hasn't as much good artists in

...A fantastic CD with lot's of different kinds of rock. The best bands of 2006 and 2007 put in one CD. Artists like Snow Patrol, Razorlight, The Fratellies, The Arctic Monkeys, Automatic, The Ordinary Boys, The Killers, Keane, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, The Kooks and the list goes on. Has two CD's and has 40 tracks, 20 on each CD. Has new up coming artist such as Wolfmother. has many artists winners from the Brits: The Killers who won best national CD and best national band, The Arctic Monkeys won best British CD and best British band. The Fratellis won an award too and many more Brit award winning artists. A fantastic purchase well worth its money. A great buy. I recommend definitely to people anywhere between 8 and 100 if they enjoy that kind of music. It even has some live performing artists such as 'The Arctic Monkeys' on tour... Read review
