Additional notes
Album Notes: Despite beginning her career in her 40s, Brooklyn-based singer Sharon Jones has been bringing true biscuits-&-gravy soul to the table as if she's been doing it since the day she was born. On her third album for the Daptone label, 100 DAYS, 100 NIGHTS, Jones, who's backed here by label house band the Dap-Kings (also the touring band for British neo-soulstress Amy Winehouse), rips through a set of deep '60s-inspired funk and R&B that sounds anachronistic in all the right ways. Jones and her band deliver their sermon completely unfettered by contemporary hip-hop production or commercially suitable digital gloss. Yet this isn't some clever simulacrum for nostalgists only; rather, Jones's muscular voice and aching delivery, and the Dap-Kings' skill and obvious love, prove the longevity and viability of vintage soul.
Album Reviews: Rolling Stone (p.78) - 3 stars out of 5 -- [With] some of the finest horn charts ever created for soul music -- funky, jazzy, subtly voiced things that compare to Pee Wee Ellis' trickiest writing for James Brown."

Advantages: EXCELLENT ALBUM Disadvantages: NONE
...Everyone should remember Rickie Lee Jones for the famous songs ‘Chuck E’s in Love’, and ‘Easy Money’.
She has a style that fits in with the jazzy fans of the world, her music is a melting pot of folk, jazz and rhythm and blues.
Just imagine yourself sitting in a Jazz café, drinking a whiskey on the rocks in a smoke filled room and a hypnotic, laid back tune will probably be playing in the background… it’s probably Rickie Lee Jones.
Her voice is addictive, it’s sweet and calming making you want to listen to her album more and more. I discovered Rickie Lee Jones about the same time I started getting into Blues, with the likes of BB King and John Lee Hooker, just two of Jazz & R&B greats.
Rickie Lee Jones quite easily fits into that category.
Tracks on her album include:

It's Marmite Review ofCall Off The Search [ECD] - Katie Meluaby

Advantages: Brillian Songwriting, Feels Immediatley Familiar, Norah Jones feel about it. Disadvantages: Marmite Syndrome voice seems to induce Love it or hate emotions
...This is an album I brought home expecting family and friends to congratulate me on a stylish choice; not entirley the case.
The albumn is a bluesy relaxed and soulful piece or work Ideal for a Sunday evening or a Friday night.
If you appreciate Norah Jones and want somehting similar to give your chill out time some variety then this is the album. This is, as I say, a Marmite albumn and not an aquired taste, you will love it immediatley or hate it immediatley. Listen to one song, you'll know.
If you are a highly stressed person, this will seriously unwind you. Although it has a very lothalgic pace it is not a depressing album. You will most likely find this familiar and be sure that you have been hearing the songs for years.
A must have addition to any collection claiming to cover the spectrum. Expect big things from this girl....
