100 Golden Jukebox Oldies Of The 50s 60s and 70s - Various Artists

Advantages: Good sound track
Disadvantages: Poor Quality

...I fully expected these recordings to be of a poor quality compared to today's standards as they would obviously be in the region of 50 years old. However, this DVD appears to be a compilation of various VHS recordings that have been recorded from recordings ...... from recordings ....... from recordings etc. until the quality has rendered the DVD virually unwatchable. In some cases the artists are barely recognisable. I have always been extremely satisfied with previous purchases from Amazon but in this case find it disappointing that Amazon should offer for sale an item of such inferior quality. I chose this item because I thought that the price of £22.99 would reflect the quality (as opposed to cheaper recordings) but find it hard to justify for a recording of this quality. Advantages: Fab price; Far better tracklisting than most 70s compilations; Loads of classics!
Disadvantages: The odd 'filler track' and uninspiring liner notes.

...feature on discs 3-5 amidst overlooked classics like 'Cats in the Cradle' by Harry Chapin, 'Say You Don't Mind' by Colin Blunstone (brilliant strings and a fine slow solo number from the lead singer of the Zombies), the indescribable 'Love On A Mountain Top' by Robert Knight which went from rare 60s soul groove to taking the charts by storm in 1973 and even 'Little Does She Know' by the Kursaal Flyers. 100 Hits 70s is well worth the price, full of musical surprises and plenty of chart toppers from one of the best eras of pop music. Even one of my all time favourite jazz instrumentals, 'The Morning Dance' by Spyro Gyra is featured on disc 5. ...As a proud owner of this album myself I can tell you that by buying it you will not be dissapointed. As an avid fan of 60's music myself, yet not from that era myself, i was as eager as anyone to get my hands on this product regardless! Personally I enjoyed tracks 3,7, and 9 best. Some of the good old classics! Admittedly the other ones may have been slightly poorly chosen, but I assume it was some poor uneducated survey collector somewhere who was asked to choose them. Regardless of this I think it is an excellent album. When the album itself was delivered to me it arrived promptly and in good condition, I am just saying this because i had concerns it may have had been bodged, fortunately I was mistaken ....
