Advantages: uplifting, foot stomping tunes and catchy lyrics Disadvantages: none
...For my 100th opinion here on Ciao I thought I would have a go at something a little different from my normal opinions, and delve into to my CD collection. So go easy on me ok it’s my first one; any comments would be most welcome!
The Saw Doctors – who the heck are they? A question I asked myself as I was dragged along to Rock City one typically cold and windy night, to see yet another band I have never heard of. The Saw Doctors are Davy Carton (vocals/guitar), Leo Moran (guitar/vocals), Pearse Doherty (bass/vocals/flute/tin whistle) and John Donnelly (drums), who hail from Tuam, County Galway.
The Album Songs from Sun Street is actually the 4th one from the Saw Doctors – released in 1989.
The music and lyrics of the Saw Doctors are a curious mix, the up beat sounds of the trumpet, penny whistle, fiddle...

Advantages: Incredibly moving swansong for my fave band ever Disadvantages: Faith No More are No More
...This was it, the final in a gripping instalment of challenging and satisfyingly diverse albums released by this incredible band of gifted musicians.
Faith No More were never a band to follow trends, but they did always grow with their audience. If 'The Real Thing' was for the teens, 'Angel Dust' for the smart twenty-somethings, and 'King for a day...' for a more mature age-group again, then this is the middle-age Faith No More. By the following year, Fanny was beginning to gain some measure of respect in the music world. Barbra Streisand, who already knew of the band from attending their gigs, had them as live session musicians on her 'Barbra Joan Streisand' album...
