Advantages: Classical music of the highest order providing 'Where have I heard this before?' entertainment. Disadvantages: A pathetic excuse to release classical genius, along with poor album art and information.
...Overview…
This album was bought after sifting through the discounted CD section of my local Tesco store. I am by no means a classical fanatic, and do not regularly listen to this music genre. However, upon browsing the track listings, I knew enough to recognise composers such as 'Beethoven', 'Bach' and 'Tchaikovsky'. At just £1.72, I therefore purchased my bargain thinking it would receive just the once over.
'Classical Greatest Hits' was originally released in 2003 on an import-only basis, and later re-released in May 2004 in white format. The album is a statement showing how many classical works are 'borrowed' by modern artists. It gives no less than 16 examples of this, providing over an hour of original compositions.

Advantages: Music from the greatest generation ever Disadvantages: No Frankie, Wham, Pet Shop Boys
...me to this offering?
I would like to say that the Album Cover shouted at me come and buy me but sadly I would be lying. As I said before, one of my great loves is eighties music and that was the main reason for me buying this offering.
To be honest with you, the cover is pretty bland and uninteresting with the numbers 101 being prominent in blue, cerise and yellow respectively, with 80’s hits written in white on a black background just below. What actually grabbed my attention was the track listing, rather than the album cover.
So what did I get for my money. Lets start with the first disc.
Tracks on disc 1
1.: I Want To Break Free – Queen
One of Queen’s later offerings, probably best remembered for the video which showed various band members doing the hovering whilst in drag amongst other similar activities. A huge hit...

Advantages: A great CD that never sounds old Disadvantages: Trying to play air guitar when stuck in traffic gets some odd looks
...times when it was top of the charts as the New Year entered. This is the song that caused me to ask for a Queen album that Christmas. This is also the song that starts off the Greatest Hits CD, and over an hour of cracking tunes.
You don’t have to be a Queen fan to appreciate this album, and even if you haven’t heard of many of the songs (where have you been?!), then you will soon be taken in by the amazing vocal range of Freddie, and the guitar skills or Brian May. The sheer volume and differing styles of songs makes you appreciate the songwriting skill of the group collectively and individually, from the sublime Bohemian Rhapsody, through the well-know Somebody to Love to the classic We Are The Champions.
This CD recently found its way back to my CD player, and has been stuck on re-play ever since. I’m not going to pretend that I...
