comedy hit! On the first day at his new school, Cameron (Joseph Gordon-Levitt - 'Halloween: H20', TV's '3rd Rock From The Sun') instantly falls for Bianca (Larisa Oleynik - 'The Baby-Sitters Club'), the gorgeous girl of his dreams! The only problem is that Bianca is forbidden to date...until her ill-tempered, completely un-dateable older sister Kat (Julia Stiles - 'Wide Awake') goes out, too! In an attempt to solve his problem, Cameron singles out the only bad-boy (Heath Ledger) with a nasty reputation of his own! Also featuring a hip soundtrack - this witty comedy is a wildly entertaining look at exactly how far some guys will go to get a date!

never gone on a date, as her parents have a little rule where Bianca isn't allowed to go out with boys until her older sister gets a boyfriend. The problem is, while her older sister Kat (Julia Stiles) is attractive and intelligent, she's also a mean-spirited misanthrope who rubs nearly everyone the wrong way -- especially boys. But Bianca and the guy she has her eye on, Joey Donner (Andrew Keegan), are eager to get their romance on the road, so Joey fixes Kat up with Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger), a new kid in town who may be just bitter and mysterious enough to suit her. All the while high school newcomer Cameron James (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) desperately tries to win Biana for himeslf. 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU was the first feature film for director Gil Junger, and is a clever reworking of Shakespeare's TAMING OF THE SHREW.

10. JOAN ARAMATRADING -WEAKNESS IN ME
I like this song. It's very chilled out, and I like the background piano music. The singer confused me though- still not sure if this is sung by a girly guy, or a manly woman.
('Make me stay when I should not/ If you're so strong then resolve the weakness in me.')
11. THE CARDIGANS- WAR
I quite like this song. It's very 'floaty', if you can understand ... ...Don't leave/ No one has won this war/ This time')
12. MADNESS-WINGS OF A DOVE
This song is okay, a bit repetitive, but not all bad. Blends in too much with the songs around it though.
('Woah woah/ for the wings of a dove')
13. LETTERS TO CLEO- CRUEL TO BE KIND
Another catchy tune by the same artists of
'I Want You To Want Me', and this one is of the same good quality. Love it.

WHY I GOT IT
When I'd watched '10 Things I Hate About You' loads of times, the songs really grew on me. I found myself singing the songs in the shower, and fast forwarding the tape to the bits with my favourite songs, and so I decided it was time to buy the CD. It was no dissapointment. Ever since I stuck this in my cd player half a year ago, it's been one of my favourite feel-good CDs.
THE TRACKS
1. LETTERS TO CLEO- I WANT YOU TO WANT ME What can I say? I love this song. It's really upbeat and happy, and one of my favourites on the CD. The lyrics (' I want you to want me/ I need you to need me/ I'd love you to love me/ I'm beggin' you to beg me') remind me a bit of The Cardigans' 'Love Fool' , which was in 'Romeo& Juliet' and 'Cruel Intentions'. Compare the lyrics: (' So I cried, and I begged for you to/ Love me love me/ say that you love me/ leave me leave me/ just say that you need me')
2. FNT - SEMISONIC This song is laidback and quite sweet ('I'm surprised that you've never been told before/ That you're lovely and you're perfect/ And that somebody wants you'). Not too in your face, but not just a background tune either.
3. SAVE FERRIS- I KNOW This is another one of my favourites. It's very loud and strong- plus her voice is great! Lots of attitude. ('My mama said to stay from guys like you./ She said they were nasty make me do things I don't wanna do')
4. JESSICA RIDDLE- EVEN ANGELS FALL I love this song! It cheers me up when I'm feeling a bit blue, or just whenever! It's got a really good tune, and I really like Jessica's voice- it's sort of husky, but very smooth! ('You will fly and you will crawl/ God knows even angels fall/ No such thing as you lost it all/ God knows even angels fall.')
5. SISTER HAZEL- YOUR WINTER This is also quite a sweet song, but a bit slower. Good for when you're just chilling out. ('If you only knew/ How much I love you, Love you/ I won't be your winter/ I won't be anyone's excuse to cry')
6. LEROY- NEW WORLD I'm not as big on this song. It's okay, but I find it a bit too bland for my liking. Not a stand-out track. ('There's a new kind of world that's taking over/ It's got devils, it's got angels/ Sitting on my shoulder')
7. TA-GANA- SATURDAY NIGHT I don't really like this song. It's a bit repetitiive, and I still haven't figured out when this was ever in the movie. Not a big hit, anyway. ('It's saturday night...')
8. GEORGE CLINTON- ATOMIC DOG This song blends in very much. It's kind of weird, and I really don't like this song. I find it very irrtating. It gives me a headache. ('Why must I feel like that/ Why must I chase the cat/ Nothing but the dog in me')
9. DAZZ- BRICK This song also blends in, and I tend to skip it. ('Everybody go on and dance if you want to/ Music makes your body move, well all right')
10. JOAN ARAMATRADING -WEAKNESS IN ME I like this song. It's very chilled out, and I like the background piano music. The singer confused me though- still not sure if this is sung by a girly guy, or a manly woman. ('Make me stay when I should not/ If you're so strong then resolve the weakness in me.')
11. THE CARDIGANS- WAR I quite like this song. It's very 'floaty', if you can understand that- and quite relaxed. ('Oh, come crush me now/ Don't leave/ No one has won this war/ This time')
12. MADNESS-WINGS OF A DOVE This song is okay, a bit repetitive, but not all bad. Blends in too much with the songs around it though. ('Woah woah/ for the wings of a dove')
13. LETTERS TO CLEO- CRUEL TO BE KIND Another catchy tune by the same artists of 'I Want You To Want Me', and this one is of the same good quality. Love it. ('Cruel to be kind/ In the right measure/ Cruel to be kind/ It's a very good sign')
14. RICHARD GIBBS- ONE MORE THING I don't really mind this song, but I don't really like it either. It's a real background song- I forget it's on the CD all the time! It's very laid-back, but a bit dull really. This is instrumental, so no singing.
OVERALL
I think this soundtrack is well worth buying. It's got a few annoying songs, but it's nothing compared to the rest! Some songs I noticed which were missing on the soundtrack are, 'Letters To Cleo- Come On' (plays in club when Kat is dancing with her friend), 'Notorious Big- Hypnotize' (when Kat is dancing drunkedly), 'Can't Keep My Eyes Off You' ( not sure who artist is, it's this one: 'I love you baby/ And if it's quite alright/ I love you baby....'). I hope you liked this review, and it gives you a better idea of whether it's the kind of CD you'd like to buy. :)
Advantages: Great songs for a great film Disadvantages: A few weak songs
The film is great, but without this soundtrack it wouldn't be nearly so good. It's great for singing along to, and dancing to it works well too. Especially when drunk. Whatever mood you're in there are songs to suit, as well as the songs to dance to, there are the slower ones for singing along to in Bridget Jones' style
The first five songs are amazing, they are:
I Want You To Want Me ~ Letters To Cleo
FNT ~ Semisonic (fantastic band)
I Know ... ...Fall ~ Jessica Riddle
Then there are four average, not so good songs:
New World ~ Leroy
Saturday Night ~ Ta-Gana
Atomic Dog ~ George Clinton
Dazz ~ Brick
Then there are another five great songs:
The Weakness In Me ~ Joan Armatrading
War ~ The Cardigans
Wings Of A Dove ~ Madness
Cruel To Be Kind ~ Letters To Cleo
One More Thing.
Overall, the majority of the songs are great and when you're dancing around like a lunatic (you know you do...) ...

The band that performed the single for the hit movie "10 Things I Hate About You" are a kind of indie cross chick rock band, called "Letters To Cleo". The single is called "I Want You To Want Me" and is catchy and really does suit the overall image of the entire movie. The movie seems to portray a feeling of female independance and the soundtrack is incredibly good at getting across the point of the film. The song itself is very upbeat and has a ... ...and the lead singer has a terrific powerful voice that really shows throughout the song. I would encourage anyone to buy this or the whole soundtrack because it is one of the best that I have seen for a long time as it actually reflects the storyline of the movie! ...

10 Things I hate About You is a great soundtrack, well worth getting if you enjoyed the film. I often find soundtracks great for showcasing artists that often don’t get any recognition or don’t bother releasing things here in the UK. This is definitely the case here. This CD introduced me to a few new artists, for example “Letters To Cleo” and “Sister Hazel.” The songs are quite varied and the although some of the songs aren’t especially good, most ... ...good songs. Although this has most of the songs prominently featured in the film it hasn’t got them all, for example, One Week by the Barenaked Ladies which was played over the opening credits or Sexy Boy by Air. Overall though a decent CD that I would recommend to anyone who liked the film. ...

This is a varied mix of chick-rock, beautiful ballads and, quite frankly, oddballs. The band 'letters to cleo' feature on two tracks, both of which are brilliant up-beat happy tunes. I have to say the track of the album is Joan Armatrading's 'The Weakness in Me' which is a stunning piano-laden ballad. There are some classics here like Madness' 'wings of a dove'. The excellent semisonic contributed 'FNT' which is a rocking tune.
This album complements ...

Advantages: not many Disadvantages: it's too like the shrew
"10 Things I Hate About You" is "The Taming Of The Shrew" rejigged for teens. The script (Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith) owes less to Will the Quill than to been-there cynicism. These kids have no illusions. Life is a role play, in which suckers are sucked and tough chicks don't work with safety nets. At the beginning, wit ricochets off the walls. As Kat softens and Patrick puts on a tux, the movie loses its spark. You begin to notice the ... ...actors are unknown, with the exception of Miller, who is always an asset to any comedy. As an ensemble piece, it is fresh and funny. As for Shakespeare, he suffers the same fate Jane Austen did in "Clueless"; but you don't have to know "The Shrew" to enjoy "10 Things". ...

Advantages: Great mix of music Disadvantages: Can't think of any at all
1 - There is a great mix of music on this one disc, a bit of everything for everybody
2 - there is 2 amazing songs on this album by Letters to Cleo
3 - The songs fit perfectly well into the feel of the film
4 - Makes you wanna get up and dance/rock out
5 - Slow songs aswell as uptempo numbers
6 - Has a good 14 songs on it from the film
7 - Has Saturday Night by Ta-Gana on it, what more can i say
8 - Love the front cover of the album
9 - Can listen to it all the way through without skipping any tracks
10 - All in All a great buy and needs to be in everyone's CD collection!
Only downside is there is a few songs in the film that aren't on the CD but oh well i'm sure you'll get over that.
The songs on the album are as follows:
1. I Want You To Want Me - LETTERS TO CLEO ~ this is a rocky, uptempo number which my sister loves ...
Advantages: Great tunes from the film Disadvantages: Bare Naked Ladies one week isnt on there!
I've been looking for this CD for a while and in the end had to fork out £12.99 to amazon in order to get it. Although the price is a little steep it was worth it. Although the film mirrors Shakespeare's 'Taming of the Shrew' the soundtrack seems to deviate and not show the same feminist attitudes as the film itself.
The CD itself comprises of 14 tracks and although my favourite song from the film, 'One Week' by Bare Naked Ladies, the other tracks certainly make up for it, these include 'Cruel to be Kind' by Letters to Cleo and 'I Know' by Save Ferris. This is the kind of music to be listened to after a bad day when screaming and shouting seems appropriate as it is very feminine indie rock.
The sleeve is filled with images from the film to help remind you that this is not simply a good compilation album, it belongs with a movie ...
Advantages: Good Introduction To Some Fairly Unknown Artists Disadvantages: Some Weak Tracks
I really enjoyed the film and just had to buy this soundtrack to remind me of my favourite scenes. I bought my copy from Cd-Wow for £8.99, although I don?t think they are selling it anymore. I am sure you will be able to purchase it cheaply on e-bay or amazon marketplace (Watch out for postage costs though).
My favourite tracks on the album have to be Track 4 (Your Winter ? Sister Hazel), Track 10 (The Weakness In Me ? Joan Armatrading) and Track 5 (Even Angels Fall - Jessica Riddle). ?Your Winter? is my overall favourite as I just think it is heartbreakingly beautiful, with amazing lyrics (?I won't be your winter / I won't be anyone's excuse to cry?). ?The Weakness In Me? comes a close second. It is an emotional Ballard about not having enough strength to resist new love, but at the same time not wanting to break the heart of someone ...

Original music composed by Richard Gibbs. All tracks have been digitally mastered using HDCD technology. In the everything-old-is-new-again department, some crafty Hollywood types decided to reinterpret the premise of Shakespeare's TAMING OF THE SHREW as a pop song-filled teen movie. Those who pick up the soundtrack will be pleased to know that those tapped for contributions include the godfather of funk George Clinton ("Atomic Dog") and second-wave ska pioneers Madness ("Wings of a Dove"). The bulk of the album is occupied by younger artists, though; there are probably more than a few Madness albums in the collection of Save Ferris ("I Know"), while the chirpy pop of Letters to Cleo (who gamely tackle the Cheap Trick classic "I Want You To Want Me" and Nick Lowe's "Cruel to be Kind) is the ideal aural complement to the film's light-hearted feel.
