When I'd watched '10 Things I Hate About You' loads of times, the songs really grew on me. I found myself singing the songs in the shower, and fast forwarding the tape to the bits with my favourite songs, and so I decided it was time to buy the CD. It was no dissapointment. Ever since I stuck this in my cd player half a year ago, it's been one of my favourite feel-good CDs.
THE TRACKS
1. LETTERS TO CLEO- I WANT YOU TO WANT ME What can I say? I love this song. It's really upbeat and happy, and one of my favourites on the CD. The lyrics (' I want you to want me/ I need you to need me/ I'd love you to love me/ I'm beggin' you to beg me') remind me a bit of The Cardigans' 'Love Fool' , which was in 'Romeo& Juliet' and 'Cruel Intentions'. Compare the lyrics: (' So I cried, and I begged for you to/ Love me love me/ say that you love me/ leave me leave me/ just say that you need me')
2. FNT - SEMISONIC This
song is laidback and quite sweet ('I'm surprised that you've never been told before/ That you're lovely and you're perfect/ And that somebody wants you'). Not too in your face, but not just a background tune either.
3. SAVE FERRIS- I KNOW This is another one of my favourites. It's very loud and strong- plus her voice is great! Lots of attitude. ('My mama said to stay from guys like you./ She said they were nasty make me do things I don't wanna do')
4. JESSICA RIDDLE- EVEN ANGELS FALL I love this song! It cheers me up when I'm feeling a bit blue, or just whenever! It's got a really good tune, and I really like Jessica's voice- it's sort of husky, but very smooth! ('You will fly and you will crawl/ God knows even angels fall/ No such thing as you lost it all/ God knows even angels fall.')
5. SISTER HAZEL- YOUR WINTER This is also quite a sweet song, but a bit slower. Good for when you're just chilling out. ('If you only knew/ How much I love you, Love you/ I won't be your winter/ I won't be anyone's excuse to cry')
6. LEROY- NEW WORLD I'm not as big on this song. It's okay, but I find it a bit too bland for my liking. Not a stand-out track. ('There's a new kind of world that's taking over/ It's got devils, it's got angels/ Sitting on my shoulder')
7. TA-GANA- SATURDAY NIGHT I don't really like this song. It's a bit repetitiive, and I still haven't figured out when this was ever in the movie. Not a big hit, anyway. ('It's saturday night...')
8. GEORGE CLINTON- ATOMIC DOG This song blends in very much. It's kind of weird, and I really don't like this song. I find it very irrtating. It gives me a headache. ('Why must I feel like that/ Why must I chase the cat/ Nothing but the dog in me')
9. DAZZ- BRICK This song also blends in, and I tend to skip it. ('Everybody go on and dance if you want to/ Music makes your body move, well all right')
10. JOAN ARAMATRADING -WEAKNESS IN ME I like this song. It's very chilled out, and I like the background piano music. The singer confused me though- still not sure if this is sung by a girly guy, or a manly woman. ('Make me stay when I should not/ If you're so strong then resolve the weakness in me.')
11. THE CARDIGANS- WAR I quite like this song. It's very 'floaty', if you can understand that- and quite relaxed. ('Oh, come crush me now/ Don't leave/ No one has won this war/ This time')
12. MADNESS-WINGS OF A DOVE This song is okay, a bit repetitive, but not all bad. Blends in too much with the songs around it though. ('Woah woah/ for the wings of a dove')
13. LETTERS TO CLEO- CRUEL TO BE KIND Another catchy tune by the same artists of 'I Want You To Want Me', and this one is of the same good quality. Love it. ('Cruel to be kind/ In the right measure/ Cruel to be kind/ It's a very good sign')
14. RICHARD GIBBS- ONE MORE THING I don't really mind this song, but I don't really like it either. It's a real background song- I forget it's on the CD all the time! It's very laid-back, but a bit dull really. This is instrumental, so no singing.
OVERALL
I think this soundtrack is well worth buying. It's got a few annoying songs, but it's nothing compared to the rest! Some songs I noticed which were missing on the soundtrack are, 'Letters To Cleo- Come On' (plays in club when Kat is dancing with her friend), 'Notorious Big- Hypnotize' (when Kat is dancing drunkedly), 'Can't Keep My Eyes Off You' ( not sure who artist is, it's this one: 'I love you baby/ And if it's quite alright/ I love you baby....'). I hope you liked this review, and it gives you a better idea of whether it's the kind of CD you'd like to buy. :)

There's a few tracks in there I really love. Joan Aramatrading is a female singer, with a fairly deep voice. She had some really big hits back in the early 8o's, although I can remember the words and tunes, I simply can't remember the flippin titles!! Mandy.xx

Doesn't really sound like my kind of review, but a good detailed review with a good description of each song thanks JAmesx
