10 To 23/Fireworks [Remastered] - Jose Feliciano

Advantages: relaxing, mellow, classics with a twist - fantastic
Disadvantages: too much instrumental, when he sings so beautifully

...What can i say about Jose Feliciano. Firstly let me say i am only 35 but discovered him about 6 years ago when i was on holiday at a cottage and this was one of the only cds there and there was no tv. By the end of the weekend i was sold. I think he is from the sixties or seventies but his music is timeless. Guitar based / spanish style versions of some classic songs from the Beatles to The Doors. When Will Young did 'light my fire' it is definately the Jose Feliciano version he did!!! There are many greatest hits cds of his, this one includes many of the greatest songs but the only down side is that some of them are instrumental(guitar) versions which are great but lack his amazing vocal talents. Advantages: Mellow music, great for the end of a hard days work. Good Debut.
Disadvantages: You must like Indie Rock/Pop.

...I like this. I spent my summer listening to Jack Johnson, so you can probably guess where my musical inclinations lie. If Jack was for the Summer, this guy is for the Winter. It is a very intimate guitar album. I drew comparisons with the quieter moments of Jeff Buckley's Grace, based purely on the sound, a sort of hypnotic guitar massage with enough beats to keep you awake. There is one superb track called Heartbeats, it's one of those tracks which is both mellow and energetic(listen, you'll see what I mean!) Throughout the album you are certainly sure of Jose Gonazalez's South American roots, the spanish guitar, really all the evidence you need. Always difficult to recommend music, as there is no accounting for taste, but if you like a spanish guitar and guy with soft vocals then this may well be your kinda thing. Although I... Read review

...One of the greatest bands of the 70s. No one hit sounded alike, the lyrics were extremely clever and often tongue-in-cheek and for once, a compilation that delivers its promise. For me this is one of the few faultless compilations around. If you were around in the 70s and like hearing a surprise forgotten gem that never gets played on the radio anymore, this is the album for you. Most people think of 10CC and recall 'I'm not in love,' 'The Things we do for love,' and 'Dreadlock Holiday,' which were three of their biggest worldwide hits and are definitely classic 70s anthems. Just mentioning those three songs emphasises the sheer quality of the band's output ranging from a reggae inspired number to an absolutely timeless ballad.
