11 Days - Never Heard Of It

Advantages: To get the best of Blondie without having to get the "Best of Blondie"

...One of those few albums that I would call "perfect". Every track a winner, from those you may know to those you should know. Thankfully, now that we have CD versions of this album, we have eliminated the only bad thing about it. Having to turn the record over halfway through. The rawness and originality shine through. The sound of past rock 'n' roll, the punk era and some future sounds, make this seem as modern as the day it came out. I've got 6 versions of this album and treasure them all. No need to get any "Blondie's greatest hits" album, get this one. The only thing you'll not get is the feeling I got when I'd never heard any of their tracks, when I was 11 years old.... Read review

...My boyfriend introduced this album to me - and I just put it down to another one of his rock albums that I would be forced to listen to. How wrong was I?! This album begins with the massive hit "American idiot", wondering how the rest of the album could live up this high a beginning - i was intent to listen on - only to be pleasently surprised finding a few hits including especially tracks 4 and track 11 - has got to be the best song I have heard since 9/11. This album is worth the money even just to hear these 3 songs imagine if you can the video for "when spetember ends" the nice slow start is a couple carrying on as couples do - then the guy goes to the war - carrying on the big middle/end where you can imagine war images - fighting etc, My favourite quote from this song - apart from the title has to be"drenched in my pain again... Advantages: A briliant addictive album

...Until recently i had vaguely heard of the Maccabees but could never have named a track of theirs, let alone sing one. That was, until my friend made me listen to Colour It In. It is quite simply a breath of fresh air. They have a unique sound and their songs have the annoying and yet briliant ability to stick in your head. It is a great Cd to drive to as it passes the time and you dont get bored and it is definately a feel-good album even if not all of the lyrics have the happiest connotations. Alot of people may have heard their tracks 'Latchmere' or 'Xray' which are typical of Maccabees sound. In my opinion though Track 11 'Mary' is definately worth a listen and has got to be one of my favourites on the album, as well as Precious Time. All in all there's not many tracks on this album i could fault, but be warned, if you do buy... Read review
