Louis Armstrong
Review of Louis Armstrong by  gill1960

Advantages: The one and only
Disadvantages: none

...and for the next ten years Louis toured around and became ultra famous. During this time Louis met and married different women (4 in all including Lillian) and then came the 1940?s when music tastes changed. Sales dwindled and Joe Glaser decided to replace Louis orchestra with a smaller group, that group became one of the most popular groups in the history of Jazz, named Louis Armstrong Allstars. For the next 20 years Louis and his group toured the world, having such famous records like Hello Dolly which knocked the famous Beatles off the top charts. In 1968 Louis recorded the song What A Wonderful World which he sang with so much feeling, it was almost like a diary, how he?d seen trees of green, red roses too and how he?d seen them bloom, he sang about children playing and how he?d watched them grow, it was like as if he was reliving his life... More Specials -The Specials (re-mastered )
Review of More Specials [ECD] [Remastered] - Specials (The) by  terriano

Advantages: inteligent varied original
Disadvantages: their last record as a group

...of your worst Asian dream whilst sounding like the incidental music from an episode of Mission Impossible, a kind of uneasy easy listening . Once again as a finale we hear a reprise of the opening track "Enjoy Yourself",this time in slow motion ,stripped down to a Bontempi beatbox and auto chords ,the frantic opening version now seems like a lifetime ago and pushes the bounds of irony to expect anyone to be "enjoying themselves "after this strangest and and most unsettling of rides ,nonetheless "More Specials " is enjoyable and deserves its classic status if only daring to be different in the face of an easy opportunity to turn out a endless string of ska goes pop ,Dammers and his crew didnt take that route and the world of popular music will forever applaud them for that . As a footnote its worth noting that there was no proper... Read review

Meet me in St Louis
Review of St. Louis by  MAFARRIMOND

Advantages: Magnificent skyline. Lots to do and see. Wonderful music heritage.
Disadvantages: A number of attractions not wheelchair accessible

...or The Gateway to the West as it is seen as the dividing mark of East and West America. The Gateway Arch, St Louis? most known landmark, commemorates that very idea. ~~Music~~ Anyone who has read any of my previous reviews of the USA will know that our trip was music based. St Louis has a long-standing music heritage. The seven month long 1904 St Louis World Fair brought ragtime into the forefront of world music. Classic such as ?Meet me in St Louis, Louis? and Joplin?s ?The Entertainer? were composed especially for the fair. Scott Joplin lived and composed in a house in Delmar Boulevard, St Louis from 1901 ? 6. The house is now open as a museum to Joplin - more of this in a separate review. Well worth a visit ? plan for about 1 hour. Today, St Louis is renowned for its Blues Music with live music played daily in various restaurants and clubs... Read review
