1960 Birdland Sessions, The - Bill Evans Trio (The)

This album is an acquired taste. The sound quality is poor, but if you have a good system/good headphones, you will be rewarded for close listening. Bill Evans and Scott LaFaro sound beautiful together, even if its mono sound off of a radio broadcast. Highlights are the various takes of "Come Rain or Come Shine" (you really get to hear to tune develop with 3 different takes) and also "Nardis" is a treasure. The trio sounds a lot livelier than they did on the Villiage Vanguard Recordings. If you pay attention, there is some great counterplay between Evans and LaFaro. Truly superb playing.
