Review of 20 Years Of Jethro Tull - Jethro Tull by rocking

Advantages: Set The Standards For Box Sets To Come
Disadvantages: None

...This boxed set contained a beautifully illustrated information packed booklet accompany 65 tracks compromising live and radio session versions of old favourites, hard to find B-sides and other rarities, plus 16 previously unreleased studio songs. Amongst the gems on this album are withdrawn singles ‘Lick Your Fingers Clean” from 1971 and “Beltane” from 1978 plus three pieces from a shelved project from 1972. Quality control was ensured by the involvement of Ian Anderson who remised and even augmented many half finishes out-takes with additional flutes or new lyrics and vocals.... Read review

A UNIQUE BAND
Review of Best Of The Doors, The - Doors (The) by sillygilly

Advantages: Great album
Disadvantages: none

...Hotel. Their final album LA Woman gave them hits with Love Her Madly and Riders On The Storm. In march 1971 a weary Jim Morrison, troubled with legal problems and years of drug and alcohol abuse moved to Paris for rest and re-cuperation. But on July the third he died under mysterious circumstances, speculation began that he died from a heroin overdose but the cause of death was listed as a heart attack. The rest of the group made two more albums before disbanding in 1972. If you want to sample The Doors unique music I would highly recommend their greatest hits, as it contains all their best songs.... Read review

Review of Only Yesterday (Richard & Karen Carpenter's Greatest Hits) - Carpenters (The) by CaptainKidd

Advantages: poetry in motion , songs for lovers it true.
Disadvantages: set such a high standard , none can equal

...on at least one other occasion under a new name - a great marketing ploy eh ). , and to which this op is really all about , so hear goes....> So what’s on this album then , well for starters 20 tracks , almost all of which you would recognise if played , even if you don’t like to admit it ! And they are : 1) ‘Yesterday Once More’ - 1973 > a classic 2) ‘Superstar’ - 1971 > catchy 3) ‘Rainy Days and Mondays’ - 1971> haunting 4) ‘Top Of The World’ - 1972 > poptastic while being funky 5) ‘Ticket to Ride’ - 1969 > much better than the Beatles version 6) ‘Goodbye To Love’ - 1972 > ode to the broken hearted 7) ‘This Maquerade’ - 1973 > mellow babe ! 8) ‘Hurting Each Other’ - 1972 > reflective mood but some... 9) ‘Solitair’ - 1975 > even Sedaka recognises this as sheer beauty 10) ‘We’ve Only Just Begun’ - 1970 > so apt , so true 11) ‘Those Good Old...
