Review of I Feel Free (Ultimate Cream Triple CD Boxset) - Cream by TomThatch

Advantages: Variety, originality, style, class
Disadvantages: None really

...in "Here comes the Sun" from the wonderful "Abbey Road") and "Tales of Brave Ulysses" still sound magical, and God, how we all gibbered with delight at Clapton's fills in "SWLABR", which still inspire. For those who wonder, it stands for "She Walks Like A Bearded Rainbow" - form an orderly queue, boys. Clapton uses exclusively Gibson guitars - Les Paul, SG, Bison mainly - and there are those who say that Gibson is a Clapton must. Well, tell it to Eric swho has been a Fender man for 15 years-plus now, except on the blues album and the Robert Johnson tribute. But my God, that SG on Crossroads seems to say a lot more than Blackie the Strat - I think I am an unreconstructed old Gibson man.... just wait 'til you hear that Bluesbreakers CD with John Mayall ....!! Les Pauls, ya bass! I just love Cream. I saw them as many times as I could... Read review

Review of Disraeli Gears [Remastered] - Cream by MRANDREWSJK

Advantages: John Entwistle and Eric Clapton were Gods
Disadvantages: John is no more.

...Lemon Jefferson, Howlin’ Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson and the like when along came this group, The Cream. I was absolutely dumbstruck, I loved the music. There was Ginger Baker on drums, Jack Bruce on Bass Guitar and Vocals, but there was God, otherwise known as Eric “Slowhand” Clapton, on Guitar/ Vocals. Eric Clapton is a Legend, he started off with the King of English Blues otherwise known as John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers. About this time at school I had a mate John whose dad was rich. We wanted to go see the Blues together so his dad chucked us a set of car keys, one week it would be a Rover, next week a Triumph or a Fiat. John’s brother had an Alfa-Romeo out of “The Graduate”. Anyway I’d drive one of these flash motors up to London, and we’d nearly always go to The Marquee Club in Wardour... Read review
