...Samla Mammas Manna are a Swedish band from ' Uppsala' . A very important group of the underground scene since the early 70's.They fused Rock , Jazz , Folk and their own unique eccentricities into a very personalized fusion. Largely instrumental with some vocals that were mostly tongue in cheek lyrically. They soon became the swedish contingent of RIO ( Rock In Opposition ) and were certainly one of it's finest exponents.They later transmuted into Zamla Mammaz Manna and then Von Zamla until recently reforming 'Kaka' is one of there more recent CD's which consists of studio and live performances 1993 - 1998.All in all it's a fantastic display of this groups mix of styles....which again has that typical swedish sound to it.Brilliant musicianship as ever and delight after delight running through the 14 songs contained here. ...For those of you who have no idea about Samhain or Glenn Danzig, Samhain is vocalist Glenn Danzig's second band, his first being the hardcore punk band "THE MISFITS". He started Samhain back in 1983 / 1984 with the following members Glenn Danzig vocals EERIE VON bass guitar backing growls Steve Zing drums Glenn Danzig and Samhain are cult icons from the state of New Jersey and even though that they are no longer together as a band , their records still fetch the mega bucks that real true fans are willing to lay out because they want a certain record in their own Danzig collection. I at one time was a huge collector on alot of things including Danzig`s records, I had each and every one including the rare Misfits pink "Legacy Of Brutality" of which I owned 2 of only 16 pressed. .... Samhain has been called all types of music ranging from punk , goth , metal , speed metal , death rock , and the old favorite that still cracks me up is devil music . Samhain picks up where The Misfits left off . Glenn stopped playing with The Misfits back in 1983 and in 1984 Samhain made its debut with it`s first lp titled Initium . Initium starts out with the self title track narrated by Glenn himself that sounds like it was recorded during a wind storm . Initium does contain The Misfits hit song Horror Business . Unlike the previous band , Samhain mostly played their set covered in blood . Samhain`s music is more dark than The Misfits music ever was . Samhain is more of a macabre band over The Misfits .
