Mariah Carey on famine in Africa- “I’d love to be thin like those people, but not with all those flies and stuff”. This, is, apparently, a genuine quote, and really rather sums up this album. It is full of stupid, lame songs filled with her voice, that is so badly used it will leave you scared rather than touched. This woman slept her way to the top, and somehow managed to win over the American public, with most of these tracks hitting the top spot there (hence the name). Thank goodness it didn’t work here as well as she would have hoped- we have more sense (most of the time)- she has only hit the top spot as a soloist once in the UK. My marks reflect it perfectly- it is perfectly average.
