1st Album - Archies

Advantages: Old songs punked up to date
Disadvantages: Less than 30 mins of music!

...I got introduced to Me 1st & The Gimme Gimmes through a friend who knew their music and am glad that I've now heard them. They cover all old hits (listed below) but thankfully the songs are sung in a punk fashion hence the album lasts less than 1/2 an hour! All of the songs have been 'punked' up, obviously the rhythm is the same as the original all be it a little faster, all the guitars and drumming is faultless. ...The 1st album from Brian Molko's wonderful band, faster, bouncyer and generaly not as depressing as WOUIN. Nancy boy is of cource the song that everyone knows, it's almost worth bying the album just for that. However the rest of the album exuals it and i feel in some places betters it. Bruise pristine for example, or the soul destroyingly beautiful I know. Anyone who is vagly interested in rock/glam muxic sould give this one a go. i've never seen them live but i'm told that they are amazing, i hope to see them at this years reading festival- i also urgy every one to go to this, i think it has got the best line up of any of the fests this year.... ...Westlife are getting better & better. The 1st hearing of this album, made me think it was a bit like the first - typically Westlife. The 2nd hearing, I realised how good this album was. They seem like a lovely bunch of lads, and they can actually sing! Get a Mini Disc and listen to them through earphones to appreciate their talent. I really don't think you have to be a Westlife fan to appreciate the album. Because they've become extremely commercialised, the gutter press are getting on their back! The Nation voted "My Love" as the best song this year! I rest my case!... Read review
