1st - Bee Gees (The)

Advantages: Excellent Music, Number One Hits
Disadvantages: None - just take a listen.

...I don't pretend to, and won't pretend to know too much about the Bee-Gees trio.Their much remembered hay day in the seventies, unfortunately passed me by due to my musically ignorant youth. I can guarantee though, I'm certainly not Jive Talkin' (Erm,Sorry!) when I say these guys where and still are class. Fortunately for me, they are a group that as time went by I discovered, and who have never failed through decades in the music industry to capture our hearts and ears.I was bought the CD - BeeGees Number Ones, for Christmas, and after opening it I sat merrily reminiscing to all the songs. As the title clearly states, these are number one hits for the BeeGees, and fan or not you'd be hard pressed not to remember any of the 20 tracks that feature on the CD. ...The original request CD title listing to which this op was to be place under was ‘The Record -Their Greatest Hits ‘ - this was important , as , as Greatest Hits albums go , this is the Bee Gees 2nd such album . The first was titled ‘Greatest’ and released under the RSO label in 1979 . The second is titled ‘The Record - their greatest hits’ , released in 2001 under the Polydor label . So for this op , I’ll provide VFR ( value for reading ) by combining both versions ... Background : The Bee Gees ( aka the Gibb Brothers ) formed as a group in 1965/66 . Advantages: Known Songs for all to Sing -a- long
Disadvantages: Cant shake that cheesy image!

...Its been a mere 2 years since these guys put a compilation together. This new one, Number One's' features a whopping 19 chart toppers, world wide! In there is a tribute to Maurice Gibb who died last year - Man In The Middle- sung by the man himself! Iv always had the attitude that the Bee Gees songs were great! But only when sung by other, more voaclly gifted artists! Much like Abba- their stuff was great when it was performed a few years ago by new younger, vocally gifted artists! Anyway, most of the time you cant go wrong with their tunes, despite the high pitched voices and chessy 70's disco lyrics, along with their bad taste in style.
