Advantages: nice tracks and some very big hits Disadvantages: no exclusives and bad running order
...There's one thing that gets me about this album, it was released in November 2000, so why call it the Pepsi Chart Album 2001?
By the time 2001 came all the tracks were old hat with many of them being out the charts for at least 3 months, tracks like Flowers (Sunship edit) - Sweet Female Attitude, Don't call me baby - Madison Avenue and You see the trouble with me - Black Legend all being hits of summer 2000, not 2001!
Apart from that the actual track listing is more pop then I've seen on a supposedly mixed compilation before, the tracks are mainly fast and happy, which makes a change from albums which try to vary the music a little too much.
The album's let down by Flee Fly Flo, I'm not against the song, even bought the single, but a song with the lyrics 'cumala-cumala-cumala-fista' stuck in between Billie and the Vengaboys...

Advantages: The most influential rapper/producer of his time. Includes great hits like Still D.R.E Disadvantages: None - this is as good as it gets
...Dr DRE aka Andre Young in 2001 has created the best music ever. 2001 has 22 tracks with top tunes like Still D.R.E, The Next Episode and You forgot about DRE with Eminem. DRE is responsible for such acts as NWA,Eminem,50 Cent and Snoop Dogg. As you would expect this album has plenty of cursing but this in no way spoils this masterpiece. This was the first music album I purchased and he has converted me into a rap lover. DRE is also responsible for artists like ICE CUBE, NATE DOGG and Warren G. 2001 features many artists like the above aswell as Kurupt and Mary J Blige. This is the best album I have ever listened to and I recommend any hip-hop/urban/rap fans to purchase a copy now!...

Advantages: Nicely long, diverse selection of artists, good intro to rap and hip-hop, not all hard-core rap - great tuneful bits as well, eminem Disadvantages: too much swearing for some (?), couple of wierd 30-sec tracks
...2001 is a great introduction to rap/hip-hop, from one of the genre's best known artists. While it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea, the album's pop(ish) undertones and occasional tuneful bits make it perfect for the first-timer.
2001 is brought to you by Andre Young, better known as Dr Dre, although if you just read the album cover, you could be forgiven for thinking that he'd done next to nothing towards it. All but one of the 18 tracks on the CD feature other artists, most notably Snoop D-o-g-g, Hittman and Eminem, so this is an intoduction not only to Dre but to rap as a whole. Indeed it's Snoop Dogg and Eminem who provide most of the lyrical spice to the album. As expected, the usual onslaught of cussing ensues, but if you do manage to follow, it's just about possible to work out what the f*cks going on. Whoops. Oh...
