Advantages: Great songs, great lyrics, Sharon den Adel's fab voice Disadvantages: Might be too high-pitched for some
...A couple of months ago, I bought Within Temptation's newest album 'The Heart of Everything', and after listening to it and loving it, I immediately ordered two of their previous album's, 'Mother Earth' being one of them. And I'm very glad I did - this CD is fabulous.

The band are from The Netherlands, and were formed in 1996. The band is comprised of vocalist Sharon den Adel, Robert Westerholt and Ruud Adrianus Jolie on guitar, Joroen van Veen playing bass, Martijn Spierenburg on keyboards and Stephen van Haestregt on drums. Although you may as well just forget about the rest of the band members, because it is Sharon den Adel's voice that really make the band stand out.

Advantages: brilliantly creative Disadvantages: short track listing
...What other band could you expect to create such a fantastically creative and musically blinding album...none, because it would seem in this world the task is only in the capabilities of Pink Floyd:
Atom Heart Mother provides a stunning colabiration between soft rock and the honest style of classical and progressive music.
Despite being blaitantly contrasting to earlier efforts from Pink Floyd (i.e. Relics, the acid induced trip through seemingly random, but clearly well structured music in the form of a debut album), this change in "genre" has allowed Pink Floyd to develop their style to an extent whereby they have successfully introduced a powerful array of vocal and instrumental ideas into pretty much every track on the album...It results in some stunning originality and a great sound.

Pink Floyd have by this time come out with at least 2 albums worthy of noting, ‘Ummagumma’ and ‘the Piper at the gates of dawn’
Atom Heart Mother is a wonderfully engineered Album, bringing together, vocals, piano, keyboards, synthesisers, drums and lots more which will be explained as I go through the tracks! The album for me means a lot – it is a fantastic ‘listening to’ CD but crap ‘background music’ I love to listen to it quite loud in a darkened room with a few beers and let the music take me on its journey, and what a journey it is, it takes me through the sad paces (if I’m melancholy – oh god! I’m using hippy words!!) I even tear up a bit. It takes me to the happy places and it even takes you through the places that leave...
