Powell expertly mixes orchestrated strings and brass with electronic synth and drum bass to create moody, complex tracks, with an underlying ambience and theme through the album.
Track 2 (20 Items) is my favourite of the lot - a great start and a catchy bass line.

Advantages: An absolute classic album Disadvantages: None
...of hell. The cover itself has no become senonomous with Meat Loaf.
I will now provide a brief opinion on the album and each of the tracks.

1. Bat out of Hell
Track Duration 9 minutes 51 seconds
The title track, and although lengthy it is still one of those you play over and over again at full volume. I challenge anybody to play this without resorting to a bit of Air Guitar. Not the best track on the album in my opinion but certainly one of the top three.

Advantages: Melody, songwriting, Beatle-esque Disadvantages: Too shambolic for some
...I have a friend who dislikes The Libertines solely because of Pete Doherty. I have another friend who is absolutely obsessed with The Libertines because of Pete Doherty. I disagree with both of them. Certainly he is an interesting and colourful person; the youth of each era has a tendency to go against the teachings of its elders, to latch onto an anti-hero; the 60's had The Stones, the 70's The Sex Pistols, the 80's The Clash, the 90's the likes of The Prodigy, and now, in the new millennium, the king is Doherty. He takes drugs (cool), destroys equipment onstage (cool), doesn't give a flying f**k about anyone (again, how cool) and generally embodies everything that Michael Howard was fighting against in the general election. In fact the above list, when one thinks about it, is decidedly uncool; when my generation have grown up...
