Advantages: Brilliant electronic music Disadvantages: quite strange
...Rephlexions (variousartists) is the next installment of compilation albums on the Rephlex record label. It features another set of tracks by the key players on the label and is equally as good as the first compilation (Braindance (variousartists)) The sounds are spaced out emotional and very original explorations of electronia. The CD kicks off with some mellow keys on which glitchy drum and bass future breaks are laid on top. The second tracks goes straight into a gentle industrial clanking atmosphere where a glimmering machine sits in a castle basement, blue light floods through the window in the middle of the night, the machine gets more energy as the track progresses. All the tracks seem to have concepts behind them waiting to be discovered. I especially like track 14 'It aint perfect till its perfect' by LIKE-A-TIM, which sounds...

...This is one of the first compilation CD's I ever bought. At the time I thought it was fantastic, but over the years I've seemed to have grown a little sick of some of the songs.
If anyone remembers the days of Shaggy and Oh Carolina, well, you'll like this compilation as it's full of old songs like that, (and that song sure does bring abck quite a few memories!)
Artists include:
Reel 2 Reel, Haddaway, M People, Aswad, Sister Sledge, Shaggy, Robin S, 2 Unlimited, Capella, Prodigy, The Shamen, Snap, Seal, S'Express and Black Box....
As you can tell by some of the above names, most of them are the oldies!
Brilliant to keep for 'old time sakes'....

Advantages: Best album of 2006 hands down ; Lyrical perfection ; The break has done wonders to the Mancis powerhouse; A real treat to see live ; Flows like a book really, each song is a chapter Disadvantages: Extremely underrated and addictive
...along the greatwestern. Similar in style to 'A song for departure' on the Manics album 'Lifeblood', it is a song to travel with, to have on your I-pod when embarking on a long journey, truly more memorably apt on a train journey. This song as far as power goes beats 'I bet you look good on the dance floor' and the other various overplayed songs of 2006.
You hear so much of great songs been written on train journeys i.e. Noel Gallagher's 'Live Forever' but this is a reflection song and a descriptive piece of prose on what Brad. saw and felt on those frequent journeys. '200 miles of sleepers taking you nearer to decide what you love and what you don't hate', its so hard to even do something so great and so special justice but the lyrics will make anyone have lovely flashbacks, 'and as the rain falls down it feels like a holiday, and as we...
