Album Notes: Ninth album from the RnB diva celebrates the 20 years since her breakthrough album 'Control', in which time she has arguably eclipsed the success and fame of her elder brother, becoming the biggest-selling female artist in the world. With Jermaine Dupri joining as producer alongside Jackson regulars Jam & Lewis, '20 Y.O.' moves away from the slow jams featured heavily on her recent albums and marks a return to the uptempo dance sound that made her name, with the lyrics of some songs referencing those of tracks on 'Control'. Includes the singles 'Call On Me' and 'So Excited'.
Advantages: changing styles, some fab songs, lyrics provided Disadvantages: overload of interludes, a few too many ballads
...it entirely?
First up, we have the singles, which are spread out through the album - always a good tactic, I feel, to get the fans listening to ALL the songs straight off, rather than merely listening to their favourites for ages before sampling any of the others. "Doesn't Really Matter" from the soundtrack of the second Nutty Professor movie (which Jackson also starred in) was the first single release from the album, and the main impetus for me to purchase the album. ...This is JanetJackson's greatest hits collection and contains some of her best work. She is such a great artist and second to Michael she is the best in the Jackson family. Runaway is one of Jackson's best songs and she combines her great R&B voice with pop tunes. Rhythm Nation is my favourite song though and the words are particularly thought provoking, this is the best of JanetJackson and any pop and R&B fans should not miss this great album. Love will never do is a great song as well, Janet's lyrics are always though provoking and meaningful....

...This is a classic. This is JanetJackson's first really sucessful album. The album is quite a dance album and the song control is a masterpice of the 80's and is 80's music at its best. This is an album any JanetJackson will enjoy. It is lively, upbeat and contains some of Janet's best dance work. Nasty Boys is very rhymic and has been influenced by rap and R&B and one of her best songs, Janet has real talent and this is one of the best albums of the 1980's. The Pleasure Principle is the other classi song on this album. I would recommend this album to anyone...
