Advantages: Memorable and intelligent lyrics set to an excellent funk-rock soundtrack . Disadvantages: A couple of weaker tracks present but only in comparison to the rest of the album.
...Jetplane Landing are a four piece band from Northern Ireland with a DIY approach to making and getting their music out there. Backlash Cop, their 3rd LP is a concept album of sorts, with several songs name-checking people that the band admire, including DizzyGillespie, Sam Cooke and Les Savy Fav. Musically excellent throughout, Led Zeppelin and Rage Against the Machine can all be heard in the powerful funk rock of the majority of the tracks, although the band have definitely developed a distinctive overall sound. Several quieter and more thoughtful songs are interspersed across the album as well, including the very excellent ‘Song for Sonia Sanchez’.
It is lyrically however, and through singer Andrew Ferris’s impassioned delivery, that this album really stands out. Slightly less of a call to arms than previous effort ‘Once Like a Spark...

Advantages: Recorded With A Mainstream Record Company Called Chrysalis Disadvantages: Out Of Whole Album, One Weak Song
...As a Runrig fan, I try my best to get to all the gigs that I can, buy all the albums and cd single that I can and I can truely say there hasn't been one Runrig album that I have been dissapointed with. Everytime a new album comes out, they have something new to offer but still keep their feet firmly on the ground of what they are about.... Skye! They truely are a band who deserve more credit than they get.
Calum and Rory Mc Donald are bound to be in amongst the best songwriters of the 20th, 21st century. Their lyrics never fail to impress their loyal fan base as well as their brilliant live performances. Perhaps the best example of this is contained within one of their best recordings of all time, Searchlight. Not only was it on a mainstream record label (Chrysalis), this record was a hit and is full of a roller coaster ride...

Advantages: All the benefits of the quadrophonic recording without the crackle Disadvantages: the vinal still sounds warmer
...What can I add after that title? I have my original pressing first release vinal album which still sounds superb although getting a quadrophonic amp that still works is a bitch! This SACD presentation brings back much of the original feel and nearly the depth of the original which the cd lacked particuarily if used via naff kit. This is Floyd at their peak in my humble opinion and one of the defining albums of the twentieth century. If you don't already own it buy it now forget Seargent Pepper and th White Album this is the must buy album of all time. Ok you need a sacd player and a decent 5.1 amp to appreciate this album at its best having said that if you have the kit sit back and enjoy. It's hard to believe this album was recorded so long ago considering the multi level nature of the tracks that are so far ahead of their time....
