Album Notes: Full title: 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection: The Best Of Conway Twitty. Personnel includes: Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn. Producers include: Owen Bradley, Jim Vienneau, Jimmy Bowen, Ron Chancey, Dee Henry. Includes liner notes by Colin Escott. All tracks have been digitally remastered. Initially heavily influenced by the rock & roll of Elvis Presley, Conway Twitty truly came into his own as a country singer in the 1970s and '80s. Twitty's greatest contribution to country music was his ballad singing. Don Gibson's "I Can't Stop Loving You" is a great example of Twitty's gift for slow songs. On this selection, Twitty's hearty baritone is both passionate and fragile. Additionally, the crying pedal-steel accompaniment adds intensity to the painful story being told, and the background vocals bring profound climax to the tune's hook. Twitty's best recorded moments are probably with Loretta Lynn, with whom he collaborated often. On this BEST OF collection, their hit "After the Fire Is Gone" shows the terrific rapport between these two vocalists. A song about an extramarital affair and life's tender goodbyes, "After the Fire Is Gone" is, at heart, a time-honored "drinking and cheating" tune, and it fits nicely along side the like-minded repertoire of George Jones, Ray Price, and others. If you're new to Twitty's music, this compilation is a great place to start.

Advantages: It's the Beatles, previously unavailable on CDs, no bad tracks Disadvantages: none
...of "Past Masters Volume One" and "Past Masters Volume Two." Each volume is a collection of the Beatles songs that were previously unavailable on CD, comprising A and B sides, EP tracks, alternate versions of songs, and even some German language tracks. Volume One covers the years 1962 to 1965, and Volume Two starts at late 1965 and continues to 1970. This review is of Volume One.
Early singles "Love Me Do" and "From Me To You" appear here. On both tracks, Paul and John share lead vocals. John also uses the harmonica on both songs, although "Love Me Do" has more of a blues feel to it.
"Thank You Girl" was the B side of "From Me To You," and, like that song, was never available on an album (in the U.K. at least). The harmonica makes another appearance on this song, making me wonder why it was used so infrequently on the group's later works...

Advantages: A good mix of songs Disadvantages: Doesnt help you get through the housework
...A cd thats a couple of years old now but still fun to listen to.
I mean this cd says its meant to help you through the housework but I personally dont think it really does,if anything it distracts you, because you just start singing along to all the great tracks this album has to offer, you get caught up in the music and completely lose track of what you were doing - maybe a good thing in a way :-)
Housework vol1 is a double album that has some cracking songs that you just dont seem to hear on the radio anymore such as The Beach Boys - Help Me Rhonda and Don McLeans - American Pie.
The songs on this album just make you feel good and really help to lift your spirits, but I honestly think its marketed wrong, this is a feel good album for anyone just not people doing the housework.I dont think the title of the album really represents...

Advantages: Some good dance tracks across genres Disadvantages: Not as good as some of their other compilations
..., and I think has crossover potential to a more commercial market (presumably I am wrong as I don't recall it, as the song is from a few years ago), and I can imagine dancing to this in the appropriate environment. Lee Cabrera's 12" mix of Shake It has promise but is too long a mix of nothing special. However Praise Cats Shined on Me is much better and typical of what is expected on a Kandi compilation. Milk & Sugar's (featuring Lizzy Pattinson) Let the Sunshine is probably better known as an advert tune, which is kind of off-putting, but it would be a grabable tune even if I had not heard it before. Stars by Morjac featuring Raz Conway was quite unusual in that it had an electric guitar riff in it, but was otherwise unremarkable. Neil Rumney's Do It Youself is better though, and the disc ends with Groovejet by Spiller, a well known track...
