Advantages: One could be the only Metallica fan with this CD Disadvantages: One could be the only Metallica fan with this CD
...Being an impulsive-buyer I bought this on a whim and having listened to it once, vowed to join IBA (Impulse Buyers Anonymous).
Having listened several times since I've decided to break my vows, and confess to being a convert to accepting the fact that some rock/pop actually sounds quite good when adapted to 'swing'.
It helps when the adaptor is the composer of "My Way" and Johnny Carson's "Tonight Show" theme; and has a pedigree in music that stretches back further than I can remember.
PaulAnka (yes, he's still alive) has chosen a bunch of contemporary rock/pop songs and adapted them to his own style of swing/jazz and bizarrely, it works for 90% of the time.
14 tracks (and 2 'extra' live recordings) range from the heavily orchestrated "Tears in Heaven" to the upbeat jazz of "Smells Like Teen Spirit", and passes through...

Advantages: Loads of Hits from the Golden Era of Rock N Roll Disadvantages: None
...;Diana” by PaulAnka, which was played ad nauseam when the Prince of Wales became engaged to Lady Diana Spencer, although the lyrics seem poignant now…
“…Oh please, stay by me, Diana…”
There are fifty tracks on this marvellous album and I’m sure to have missed some, but I think I have included the best-known artists and tracks. Also featured are Danny and The Juniors, B Bumble and the Stingers and The Marcels.

Advantages: Fully comprehensive - Jam/Style Council included; great music; well packaged; available for bargain prices Disadvantages: does not include the original version of 'that's entertainment.' A real shame!
...Released for the christmas market in 2006 and because Paul also won the BRIT award for outstanding contribution to British music that year, a comprehensive greates hits, including songs from the Jam and Style Council days, as well as Paul's solo career was needed. After all, the man Weller had managed a 30 year career!
Universal released a single CD and a twin DVD (both also called 'Hit Parade') but in my opinion, the 4cd boxset "Hit Parade," which I am reviewing is the most superior.
Firstly - if you like to be a comprehensive music fan - go for the 4 cd boxset. It is well worth the price. If you shop around, you can get hold of it for the same price as the solo CD (I did) and logic dictates, the 4 cd set is going to be more comprehensive than a single CD. The single CD is good but it contains 23 tracks, this 4 CD boxset has 64...
