release, 21st Century Boys. Largely marketing themselves through the Internet, and still occasionally playing live, they get full marks for perseverance. Unfortunately, they got up so many noses during their brief mid-1980s heyday that it has always been difficult to perceive them as anything other than an overhyped bunch of no-talents with dopey hairdos and daft clothes, led by an ex-punk (Tony James) who was shacked up with Janet Street-Porter. Most of the 20 tracks on 21st Century Boys sound like The Cramps crossed with early Depeche Mode and, while the whole thing is virtually impossible to take at a single sitting, any one of them would work as an exquisitely kitsch dance groove if cranked up at a party. Try, for example, "Rio Rocks", a coy electronic reinterpretation of "La Bamba". The bizarre "Albinoni Vs Star Wars", in which the celebrated baroque adagio is set among sampled voices and swirly synths, is an equally amusing diversion, largely because it has a different rhythm and drum track than all the rest. Taken on its own trashy, junk-culture level, its certainly no less entertaining than an Archies album. --Johnny Black

Advantages: they'll have to give up soon beaten by Bob the Builder HAHAHA Disadvantages: I havent got all day they talentless fools who wouldnt know an instrument if it hit them in the face
...Ahhhhhh you hear them scream at the top their 13 year old voices but these screams are not ones of fear oh no their screaming because 'Westlife' are about. Screaming because there going to be forced to listen to one of their songs???? NO!!!! screaming because they actually like them. Westlife are to be frank the worse most talentless band since 'Steps' and before that 'SigueSigueSputnik'
'they've had 7 number 1's in a row' you'll hear the fanatical westlife fan say 'so they must be goods'. NO NO they most certainly are not to think they had more no.1's in a row than the Beatles. How can this be well ill tell you how its because 8 year olds control who gets to number 1 these days and not those that have musical taste. to put it simply the masses are asses...

Advantages: a genius showcasing his talent Disadvantages: packaged on 2 cds when the tracks would fit on one.(im lazy!)
...pull at the heartstrings. of all gingers styles, his country rock always seems his strongest. despite being best known for metallica-esque riff led rock, the country songs really show off his lyrical class and bare bones songwriting. the first cd finishes with "blinded by absinthe". a self explanitory drunken ode to the mans favourite tipple.
the 2nd cd isnt quite so strong if im to be honest, certainly no bad tracks, but in my opinion not so many gems. it starts off with a real classic though in "the saga of me & you". a gorgeous pot boiling rock epic. splendid! the next few tracks fly by, and before you know it, the cd closes with "the dying art of the chorus". neil x from siguesiguesputnik was roped in for this song, & boy can you hear it! sheer cyber punk electronic joy.
all in all, this album is class from start to finish...

...though, it just made me want to run off to the sea and float.
Main Vein
*********
A jump back to reality after the previous dreamy track. This starts like the Carwash song, and continues very similar too it. A happy, jolly number with a very nice lady whooo-oooo-oooo-ooo-ing every now and then. I really like this track – it makes me smile. I cannot offer any more substantial comments except that this is the track to listen too to cheer you up if you are sad
Twenty Zero One
***************
Back to electronic now, slightly Gary Newman, slightly SigueSigueSputnik, but mostly Jamiroquai’s. This track reminds me of a train journey of the future. It invokes feelings of speed and rushing around. Another possible club hit methinks
Picture of My Life
******************
A perfectly mellow track to round the album off in style...
