Advantages: Another great CD from George Strait Disadvantages: Not enough tracks
This is yet another great album from GeorgeStrait. The CD has ten tracks which after playing a couple of times you will find yourself singing along to.
The opening track - 'She'll leave you with a smile' is a good lead in which is followed by the thought provoking 'Run'. The title track 'The Road Less Traveled', again, a powerful song with wonderful lyrics and melodies and sung equally so. GeorgeStrait manages to skillfully incorporate a wide range of musical styles from the more traditional country through to a more rock, pop, R&B and honky tonk influence without losing its overall country feel. GeorgeStrait is one of country's top selling artists and this album will leave you in no doubt as to why.
Combining old and new country beautifully, 'The Road Less Traveled' contains something for everyone. This is a good ...
Advantages: Amazing vocals, guitar playing, strong melodies Disadvantages: Sadly a tendency towards blandness
to the Warner label and released his first mainstream hit, "Breezin", an instrumental, before finding his voice and a chart run that lasted for 10 years in the US and UK. Ever the jazz performer, Benson frequently used scat vocals in his songs and his vocals would frequently echo his guitar playing, a feat I personally found particularly impressive.
The Album
"The Greatest Hits of All" is the definitive George Benson collection, and one that features songs that still receive a fair amount of airplay today. Not everything Benson did was jazz however, as this review will show, but I felt that his best work had more than a hint of it within.
"Give Me The Night"
The closest to a disco song Benson ever did, this was released in 1980 and was a top 10 hit on both sides of the Atlantic. Produced by Rod Temperton, you can hear echos ...
Advantages: If you like country influence then there's plenty Disadvantages: If you hate country influence then there's plenty
decent bluesy little number, which although you know it's Knoplfer because of that Sound he gets the guitars to sing for him, would do well being played by the likes of Clapton or Gary Moore.
Hey a bit of fast rhythm for "The Bug"! Sadly this is line dancing territory. Grab those cowboy boots, tasselled jacket, natty hat and yeeehaw your way through it. Have fun..
We're back to the Dire Straits sound again with "You And Your Friend." Thankfully this is the sort of track that I really like from them. Laid back. Drawling mumbles for lyrics.
"Heavy Fuel" is a bit of a rocker, but they still don't seem able to step just outside the boundary of Dire Straits niceness. I know that this is what makes them popular because I've been to gigs and seen the vast age range that attend, and if your Nan is happy to go to the NEC with you to see ...

Album Notes
Although the title implies that 22 MORE HITS is a sequel to a previous George Strait best-of anthology--of which there have been more than a dozen since 1986's GREATEST HITS--it in fact merely compiles a cross-section of some of the Texan country superstar's most beloved songs from the first quarter-century of his career. Many of Strait's best-known songs are absent, but with fan favorites such as "Amarillo By Morning," "Gone As A Girl Can Get," and "Don't Make Me Come Over There and Love You" among its choices, this is as good a single-disc George Strait anthology as any that's been gathered.
