Since discovering Ryan Adams and not just thinking of him as that guy with a similar name to Bryan Adams, I have become an avid fan!! I absolutely love his music!!
I must admit that I'd been listening to the rock n roll album and some of the albums from his former band Whiskey Town before this but at first I just didn't get it! It just sounded like nothing, just like rubbish music that plays in the background like when your in a shop but the trick is I kept listening. It seems as though he writes the songs that grow on you as after a little persistence listening its now one of my favourite albums of all time it really is just remarkably, exceptionally beautiful and I now hold him in high regard up there with Jeff Buckley and the 'Grace' album. Just mentioning Jeff Buckley there if you like Jeff Buckley, Bob Dylan, Damien Rice, Cold Play, Nick Drake, Elliott Smith or any of these kind of artists then honestly you will absolutely love Ryan Adams.
Just don't listen to it then dismiss it, keep at it and you'll be addicted to this album - I just leave it in my cd player on repeat its just phenomenal.
If your more of a rock fan however you may want to start with the rock n roll album to get into him a little first before discovering the more songwriting/folk/altcountry sound.
Favourite tracks, whilst I would love to just say all of them the ones that really stand out for me on this album are 'Twenty Nine', 'Strawberry Wine' and 'Starlite Diner'.
The full track listings for this album can be seen below: 1) Twenty Nine 2) Strawberry Wine 3) Night Birds 4) Blue Sky Blues 5) Carolina Rain 6) Starlite Diner 7) The Sadness 8) Elizabeth, You Were Born To Play That Part 9) Voices
Seriously its an amazing album - go an buy it!!!
