Beginning Of An Era

Advantages: Debut album - good addition to the collection
Disadvantages: Old style rhyming and beats

2Pac's debut album after going solo with a short spell with Digital Underground. At the time of this release Tupac was very much unknown although he was appearing in movies.
Along with Ice Cube and other artists who launched the so called 'gansta rap era', 2Pac jumped on the bandwagon. The album contains mostly dark beats and spans issues from troubles in the ghetto to attacking the government of the US, to whom he describes as 'Amerikkka'.

Advantages: nowt
Disadvantages: terrible album

Firstly, 2pac is a great rapper, and I salute him, but, this is not one of his best efforts. This is his first album, so, he can be forgiven that it's not as good as his later works, s he was still making a name for himself. I bought this album for a decent price of £8.99, and expected a better album than I got. It does have a few decent songs on it though, such as the critically aclaimed 'Brenda's Got A Baby' and 'Young Black Male', but these are ...
...Anybody owning any other 2pac albums will see that this album is a bit of a dissappointment in relation to ones such as 'All Eyez On Me' which was a fantasic album. The style of this album almost sounds old and out - dated, once you listen to songs such as 'Shorty Wanna Be A Thug' you will see that the sounds are pretty dire in comparison. 2pac didn't really find any decent beats with this album, although it sold millions of copies, and in my opinion ...

first of many great masterpieces

Advantages: Rocking Tunes,Sublime lyrics and tthe way he expresses himself
Disadvantages: none

2Pacalypse Now" was 2Pac's debut album and although he was making a name for himself as a huge movie star, he was relatively unknown as a rapper, but this album would change all that and would make many people sit up and take note. This album was by no means his most commercially successful and the album's sound has a more east coast hip hop based than a lot of his later work which had more of a west coast gangster rap feel to it. The album is possibly ...
...deal with his hate for the police, the government and anybody that has ever gotten in his way and prevented him from becoming the superstar he was set to become. The lyrics are extremely angry and the beats are hard and relentless and this is possibly the rawest and most original of all his work. The highlights of the fast paced politically charged album include "Brenda's Got A Baby", "Trapped", "Something Wicked", "Rebel Of The Underground" and ...

2Pacalypse When

Advantages: Tupak is awsome
Disadvantages: A bit strage for Tupac

This album hasn’t really grown on me as well as some of his other albums. Don’t get me wrong, its not that I didn’t like it its just quite different to the usual 2Pac stuff. I’ve had the album for about 4 years now and I bet I’ve not listened to it more than 20 times. The best song on it is “Brenda’s got a baby”. Which is the tenth song on the album. If you have the album yourself you will defiantly ...

"The Most Dangerous Weapon: An Educated Black Man"

Advantages: Inspiring and fresh
Disadvantages: Inconsistant

"2Pacalypse Now" is the debut from the late West Coast rapper, 2Pac. This LP was released way back in 1991, when he was still working as an associate with the alternative rap group Digital Underground, the group which is only really know for the single hit single "Humpty Hump". 2Pac worked as a roadie for the group at the time and would often dance on stage with the group and get the occassion chance to rap, and after a breakthrough with "Same Song", his potential was apparent, giving him a chance to go at it alone. This album was boycotted by many at the time because it was an extreme example of the lengths West Coast rappers would go to as NWA did with "F*** Tha Police", which got them an official warning from the FBI, and 2Pac was promoting a similar message of rebellion against the police in his lyrics, and portraying whites to be ...

Review of 2pacalypse Now [PA] - 2Pac

The debut, and the best

Advantages: Great lyrics, real political drive, feels raw
Disadvantages: repetitive beats, hugely controversial

The debut album from the best-selling rap artist of all time, and in my opinion it is still his best work. 2Pacalypse Now was originally released in 1991. It was not a major success, spawning no top 10 hits, and with 2Pac having a lot of difficulty marketing the album. Although the album lacks the polish of his later albums, we are left with a more raw feel to the album, and it is by far 2Pac's most political work, discussing problems facing young black males on America, shedding light on issues such as police brutality, poverty and teenage prenancy. The emphasis is on 2Pac's lyrical genius, rather than processed beats, and this album features some absolutely inspiring songs. "Brenda's Got a Baby" consists of just one extended verse from 2Pac, discussing the fictional character of Brenda, a teenage girl who becomes pregnant ...
