..."Silence Becomes It" was the first album of the two that Silence4 made.
It was the greatest success in Portugal, back in 1998, reaching a fifth platinum prize, for sales over 250,000 records! And a enormous breakthrough, once it was the first portuguese band reaching a mass success singing in english.
Its songs are simple, naïve and at the same time perfect. This is an album where the strings of the acoustic guitar rule over every other instrument. The voice of the front man David Fonseca, and the feminine back vocals make a perfect match in songs such as: "Angel Song", "Borrow" or "Goodbye Tomorrow".
Most of the songs got to be singles and today they are still playing in the radio. "Borrow" was the first hit in that '98 summer, then came the outstanding cover of Erasure's "Little Respect", "Angel Song"and "Old Letters".

Advantages: Beautiful voice, often superb production, integrity Disadvantages: It sounds like a lot of other (recent) acts in the same genre
...The special UK-only edition of this CD has only just been released, but this album dates back almost two years...it was released in America during the early summer of 1999, where it has been a slow-burning success to the tune of 2 million copies sold.
Three months ago, before Eminem took one of her songs - Thank You - and used it as the basis for his chart-topping single Stan, about an obsessed fan, few people in Britain knew who Dido was. They might have heard her by several means, but putting a name to the voice (or songs) would have proven difficult. Now, of course, Dido is the name on most people's lips, with No Angel currently enjoying a UK Top 10 residency.
The original version of No Angel was issued in Britian last October, and was effectively the same CD as the US release. 250,000 of these have already been bought in the UK...

...Formed in 1998 by vocalist Benjamin Burnley and drummer Jeremy Hummel, Breaking Benjamin quickly garnered a strong local following. In 1999, the band briefly renamed themselves "Plan 9." In late 2000, after various line-up changes, the band changed its name back to "Breaking Benjamin" and two friends of Burnley, Aaron Fink and Mark Klepaski, left their previous band, Lifer, and joined the ranks of Breaking Benjamin as guitarist and bassist, respectively. Lifer was a band that gained brief mainstream attention because of their part in an MTV cover band contest that resulted in a record deal with Universal Records.
This album sold 131,000 copies in its first week, which made it the fastest selling and highest charting Breaking Benjamin album to date, locking up a #2 spot on the Billboard charts.
