Advantages: Excellent backing tracks, competent vocals, a couple of strong pop hits Disadvantages: Not much in the way of soul, some dull tracks, all rather dated now

The Pearls
The Pearls were two session singers who had been working steadily since the late 1950s in one of the UK?s first girl bands, the Vernon Girls. Lyn Cornell and Ann Simmons then pursued solo careers with some minor success during the sixties, with Cornell reaching number 30 with a cover version of the song ?Never on a Sunday? in 1960 but they found session work and working as backing singers more lucrative after failed solo singles releases.
In 1972 producer Phil Swern decided he wanted to record a cover version of Martha Reeves & The Vandellas? B-side ?Third Finger Left Hand? to cash in on the song?s popularity on the northern soul scene.

Rock Band is a step in the right direction for any musical gamer. Obviously a move onwards from the Guitar Hero franchise with the inclusion of a drum kit and a microphone. The guitar is practically the same as any of the guitar hero guitars, but with a few tweaks such as the solo buttons which are very difficult to use and aren't really needed. Therefore the guitar isn't really a must have if you already have a guitar hero guitar. However if you don't then get the whole band set as the variety offered by having so many instruments is endless and playing with friends or online is one of the best things about the game. The solo careers are good too with a good tracklist which ranges dramatically and also new downloadable tracks every week in case you get bored of the same tunes over and over again.

Full title: 5000 Spirits Or The Layers Of The Onion/The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter. 2 LPs on 2 CDs: 5000 SPIRITS OR THE LAYERS OF THE ONION (1967)/THE HANGMAN'S BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER (1968). Incredible String Band includes: Robin Williamson, Mike Heron. This two-for-one collection brings together the Incredible String Band's second and third albums, 5000 SPIRITS OR THE LAYERS OF THE ONION and THE HANGMAN'S BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER, respectively. Entirely acoustic, 5000 SPIRITS features guitars, bass, flute, and various percussion instruments, all in the service of the Incredible String Band (comprised mainly of Robin Williamson and Mike Heron here) and their tripped-out British folk. While "The Mad Hatter's Song" is staunchly 1960s underground fare, there is also a heavy minstrel tradition on 5000 SPIRITS, with dashes of blues ("No Sleep Blues"), Middle Eastern music ("The Eyes of Fate"), and Dylan-inspired revivalism ("Blues for the Muse"). On THE HANGMAN'S BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER, the duo's songs have a more open, flowing structure, augmented by unconventional instrumentation (Jew's harp, oud, Pan pipe, sitar). The ISB's brew of Celtic melodies, blues, bluegrass, and period psychedelia is still intact, but the whole is expanded in vision to include sweeping cinematic gestures, choral voices, and increasingly surreal lyrics. "The Minotaur's Song," for example, sounds like it might have been performed for King Arthur by a band of wandering, drug-addled psychos. Elsewhere, "A Very Cellular Song" is a lengthy suite comprised of small song fragments. In ambition, wit, and charm, the record provides a fine complement to 5000 SPIRITS.
