Advantages: Elvis singing great songs at his peak, backed by sympathetic musicians. Disadvantages: That the album contains barely half of the many songs recorded at these historic sessions.
...There's an awful lot of ElvisPresley CD's in the racks to tempt new listeners. In fact there's a lot of awful ElvisPresley CD's in those racks, too. But hidden amongst those dreadful movie soundtracks and uninspired live shows from Vegas, there are some truly great albums, of which this is one of the best.
Recorded in 1969, this is Presley returning to form after a considerable career slump in recent years. The best-known track here is probably the hit single 'In The Ghetto', a truly moving 'protest song' of sorts, with Elvis delivering a tremendously impassioned vocal. 'Long Black Limousine' is another poigniant parable, about someone who dreams of one day travelling in such a stylish mode of transportation, only to have their wishes fulfilled when they are driven to their final resting place !

Ok, for those unfortunates who have never heard of ElvisPresley ( is there any????? I'd like to hear from them) he was born in Memphis Tennessee in 1935 an died at the age of 42 in 1977. He is also as far as I am aware, the biggest selling artist of all time.

Advantages: 45 classic tracks! Disadvantages: many missing elvis classics!
...for a hefty sum at the time ($35,000 - the biggest buy out deal in music history at that point). Elvis then found world-wide fame with "Heartbreak Hotel", a classic rock ballad that was a #1 hit and eventually sold more than 10 million records. Presley, of course, would go on to have many, many more million selling singles and albums, such as "It's Now or Never", "Jailhouse Rock", "All Shook Up", "Hound Dog", "Don't Be Cruel", "Surrender", "Return To Sender" and "Suspicious Minds", to name but a small selection!
During the 21 years that he was recording, Presley proved to be the ultimate entertainer. Not only was he one of the greatest singers to ever make records, he also was one of the greatest live performers as well and had a second career as one of Hollywood’s biggest movie stars.
