This is probably one of the most important albums in Heavy Metal history, most notably because it was the first IronMaiden LP to feature Bruce "Air Raid Siren" Dickinson on vocals.
Picked from relative obscurity, Bruce was singing in the band Samson (as Bruce Bruce) before Steve Harris and Co asked him to audition for IronMaiden when Paul D'iano left the band in 1980. What then follows is over two decades of an important piece of the Rock music jigsaw.

In 1982 IronMaiden released what is internationally known by most Maiden fans as their best album ever. After just realising the album 'Killers' in 81 and 'IronMaiden' in 1980 they had changed their lead vocalist from Paul Di'anno to the brilliant Bruce Dickinson. This was their first album with the new singer and also their first album writing completely new material. This albums features great metal classics like Run To The Hills and The Number Of The Beast

on the whole. You have to hear it a couple of times to appreciate how well it works and is a diverse piece that is also fun to listen to.
The number of the beast. What an amazing song and the first single from the album. The most recognised Maiden song ever that boasts some fantastic guitar riffs and vocals. The band originally approached Vincent Price to do the intro but was told he would not do it for less than £25.000. The band then heard of a radio presenter who read ghost stories on his show. This classically trained actor had no interest in IronMaiden but agreed to do it when asked to do it in the style of Vincent Price. Sorry just thought id give you a bit of a history lesson.
