Advantages: it totally rocks! an underrated album. Disadvantages: hard to find disadvantages... er... perhaps not very diverse.
...HIM's debut album "Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666" sounds quite different to latest studio album "LoveMetal", despite having the same producer. Here, Linde Laser's guitar riffs buzz and occasionally crunch; now, they chug along. HIM were apparently very influenced by Type O Negative when they did this album, although I've never listened to TON so I can't really comment.
Opening track "Your Sweet Six Six Six" - a different version to the one on "Razorblade Romance" - is rawer than the slick pop-metal anthem it later became. Advantages: Fantastic dark lyrics to compliment a dark, heavy sound Disadvantages: A very short album but then it was their first album.
...I have to say through personal choice this has to be one of my favourite albums, It's raw, dark and doesn't have that just come from the recording studio sound where everything has be mastered to sound cleancut.
Valo delivers some fantastic lyrics as always and does a fantastic cover of Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't fear the Reaper" which has an amazing dark sound. They also covered Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" on this album which also sounds amazing.
From my experience HIM never fail to deliver something that's Dark, Raw, Mysterious and ultamatly fantastic.
Tracks included on the album:
01.Your Sweet 666
02.Wicked Game(Chris Isaak cover)
03.The Heartless
04.Our Diabolikal Rapture
05.It's All Tears (Drown In This Love)
06.When Love And Death Embrace
07.The Beginning Of The End
08.Don't Fear The Reaper (Blue Oyster Cult cover...

Then, one day, the songwriter from the Wildhearts and the most popular member of The Backyard Babies decided to make a side project band. And can you guess what that band was called, children? That’s right. Super$hit 666.
Very few people are aware that the Wildhearts put a shot in the arm into British rock, and that’s because they had a line up more unstable than a table with legs made out of balloons...
