Life has not been kind to Jimmy 'B-Rabbit' Smith (Eminem). His pregnant girlfriend broke up with him and he gave her his car, although he finds out that she was just pretending. He has a dead end job in a car manufacturing plant and because he is homeless he has to move in with his mum and baby sister in a trailer park.
But B-Rabbit has a dream, he wants to be a rapper and we see him at the beginning of the film preparing for his "battle" in the grimy toilets of a dilapidated night club called The Shelter, he is nervous and actually vomits in the toilets before making his way through the hyped up crowd to the stage, the crowd is mainly black youths, the other rapper he is battling against is black as are his crew, with the exception of his friend Cheddar Bob (Evan Jones) he is the only white guy there; a white guy in ...

Advantages: Rap Battles Disadvantages: Uninteresting plot and characters
If hearing Eminem's voice on numerous radio stations and music television channels wasn't enough, director Curtis Hanson decided to create the rags-to-riches Hip-Hop musical 8Mile to exhaust all mainstream possibilities and tell the world how great the white rapper is.
I don't really hate Eminem: Admittedly, I did enjoy some of the tracks on The Marshall Mathers LP (which I regard as the height of his career as a music artist). It's just that anything he has done since then seems like an excuse to make Hip-Hop more acceptable to a commercial audience. Gone are the days of him wanting to "Kill You": He now prefers to dress up as a superhero for the video of "Without Me", declaring himself as the saviour of popular music. After all, a white face at the forefront of the culture means more money for the A & R offices of the music industry ...

8-Mile - Every moment is another chance
I'm doing this review based on the DVD version of this film.
8-Mile is rated a 15 so it is only suitable for people aged over 15 due to some sexual scenes in the film.
The Cast
The main characters within the cast of this film are the famous white rapper Eminem, Kim Bassinger, Brittany Murphy, Mekhi Phifer.
All the cast within this film are brilliant actors making the film realistic and helping you really get into the film.
Each character is well suited to the part they play making the people within the film realistic helping drag you in all most like you are part of the film.
