Advantages: Excellent food at very reasonable prices Disadvantages: They may rush you because they're so busy
I don't usually go to restaurants as part of a large group of people, but my visit to Soprano's in Palmerston Road, Southsea, was an exception to this rule. A colleague of ten years (mine of eight of those) was leaving to go and live with a Welsh farmer, so we had to give her a fitting send off. Soprano's was recommended to us by one of our younger colleagues, and knowing that it had won an award for best restaurant in the Portsmouth area in 2006, we were happy to go along with her choice; she made a booking several weeks in advance for thirteen of us (all women) for 7pm one Saturday evening. The superstitious among us were perhaps a little relieved that on the day only eleven attended.
Soprano's is essentially an Italian restaurant offering an extensive menu of salads, risottos, pasta and pizza, as well as filled panini and focaccia ...
Advantages: Fairly Cheap and easy to play - a great first soprano Disadvantages: Intonation is slightly "dodgey", especially on the high notes, and you don't get the depth of tone or quality of sound that you would get from a more expensive sax (eg a Selmer). Supplied in a stupidly large case!
This is one of the cheapest soprano's around, however it is incredibly good for its price, offering a nice tone, and not being too difficult to produce the lower notes on, however the tuning is not brilliant, as you would expect from a cheap instrument, and you have to work especially hard to combat this in the upper register. This sax is incredible value for money, and having had a chance to try out most of the good sopranosaxophones around I would say that I prefer it to the yamaha student instruments which are slightly more pricey! (YAS-475 about £800). While this sax is great value for money, you do have to be aware that the tone it gives obviously won't be as rich as some of the more expensive selmers or yanagisawas, however the tone is still quite good.
One of the downsides of this sax is that Jupiter choose to supply this ...
Advantages: Best television drama ever Disadvantages: Strong language, adult themes
Sopranos Season 1

I will begin this review by issuing a warning to potential readers I am a huge fan of this series so forgive me if it seems I am over hyping this box set. I missed this series when it first came out I didn't catch it until I brought the DVD. At the time of purchase this cost over £35 so was no small investment, I can however state that it was one of the best £35's I have ever spent as it has given me many hours of enjoyment. It was my first introduction into the lives of the Sopranos the greatest American family since the Walton's! They may by now be as famous as the Walton's but that is were the comparison ends, the Walton's this is not, but it is perhaps the best television drama ever and season 1 was the perfect introduction to this Dysfunctional but entirely believable suburban ...
