A&M Gold Series - Sergio Mendes

Advantages: Lively, original and " funky fresssh "...
Disadvantages: i wouldn't actually call it sergio mendez, due to the fact that, Will.i.am from the black eyed pea's features in over half of the songs !!!

...I bought this album for £9.99 from my local Tescos not acctually knowing what i was buying. at this momment in time, music is no longer music, its it is has just gotten to a stage where men sing about there sex lives with with live big asses, and woman sing about how there men leave them for women with better asses than themselves, but when an album as orginal as Sergio Mendez's you can't help but think, thank god there is acctually someone out there who cares and thinks about what he's singing about...when you listen to his music, you can just feel that he thinks long and hard about the words he's bringing across. Advantages: Hugely original, perfectly suits the mood of the film
Disadvantages: perhaps a bit tough going without the images.

...Probably the most famous theme tune to any western, the instantly recognisable title track is audacious and original. Who but Ennio Morricone could combine almost Monty Python like silly voices with twangy guitars, lush strings, strange flutes and a male voice choir to make a perfect accompaniment to the final and best of the Dollars trilogy. Director Sergio Leone's highly original visual style (be it sometimes over the top) demanded the same with the music and in Morricone he certainly got that. This is probably best defined in the final sequence where the three protagonists are searching for the gold in the graveyard and the tense shoot out that follows. The music amplifies the heat and suspense to an almost unbearable crescendo. A classic soundtrack.... Read review

Advantages: 'Balancé' is a beautiful record

..., reached gold in her native Portugal and was a mix of African rhythms and melodic pop songs. Sara Tavares was also nominated for the "Globos de Ouro" (Golden Globes), the Portuguese Grammies in the Category: Best Artist for their new albums. The Golden Globe Awards were created 11 years ago, in order to distinguish people from several areas like Music. She has been working on her African roots for the past five years and has come up in February 2006 with this third album (what she calls an album of "lullabies to myself'') 'Balancé'. 'Balance' is an album filled with sweet R&B rhythms, smooth grooves, and multi-lingual lyrics (Portuguese, English, and Crioulo- the language of Capeverdeans).
