Advantages: Recognisable tunes Disadvantages: Neither fish nor foul. Best stick to the original
I was prompted to shake the dust off a neglected corner of my record collection by a review posted by Nar recently. "The True Legacy of a Legendary Musical Divorce?" is about the Album "Legacy, a Tributeto Fleetwood Mac's Rumours" - a CD of cover versions of the songs from the classic Mac album 'Rumours' released in 1977. Nar also said that he was '?forever on the look out for new versions and covers of songs by leading artists known and unknown.'. For completeness then, here is one for his collection and maybe one which may have escaped your attention the first time around.
The String Quartet Tribute's declared aim is to concentrate on one well known performer or group at a time and produce classical (instrumental) versions of the songs 'note for note'. Some albums are compendiums of the original's more well known titles; others, as ...
Advantages: Brilliant, Love of God and Land, Peace and comfort Disadvantages: There are none
My family was born and raised in Wales, I myself was born there. I can tell you this would be the best purchase you could make for your year. The love of God and Country this man has, luminates from his cd. Every song is about Wales. It is the most beautiful place on earth. Listening to this will convince you, as this Welshman pours his heart and soul into his cd about his lovely mountains and valleys. It will raise the hair on the back of your neck and bring a tear to your eye when listening to this brilliant cd. If you have never been to this wonderful, loving country, after hearing this you will want to visit no doubt. Enjoy the blessings of voice and love in Rob Allen's "My Tributeto Wales". We need this kind of love in our hearts in this day in time no matter where you are from. Purchase this one and you will not be sorry. It makes ...
Advantages: A great tribute. Stellar line-up. Benefits a worthy cause. Disadvantages: Some of the fashons are now very dated!
These two DVDs comprise a tributeto Freddie Mercury, who died in 1991 after succumbing to AIDS. All the artists involved gave their time for free - and those included reads like a Who's Who of British rock music, in addition to artists from overseas such as Metallica and Liza Minelli.
There is an array of "extras" on the 2 DVDs, including rehearsal footage for each act (press enter when you see the "i" box at the corner of your screen), a documentary on the great Freddie Mercury and press photos from the event itself.
---Why should I bother listening to something that is over 10 years old?----
Because Queen were a seminal rock group; because buying the video will help AIDS charities fight the disease; because it is a moving and uplifting event; because the atmosphere is captured brilliantly in the film; because it contains ...
