Review of 100% Colombian - Fun Lovin' Criminals by yhwman

Advantages: Some great songs
Disadvantages: A little to laid back

...100% Columbian is the second album from America’s smoothest rockers, Fun LovinCriminals. FLC music consists of a mix of rock, blues, rap and lounge. You’ll have to trust me on this one, but that combination sounds much better than you’d expect. The Fun LovinCriminals are one of the most original sounding bands putting out records today. The only other artist who sounds remotely like them are the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Come Find Yourself was a (probably quite surprising) success for the band. However, no band should stand on it’s laurels, and indeed, no great band does. Whereas on the first FLC album, Come Find Yourself, the rock, blues, rap and lounge mix was fairly equal, 100% Columbian has the rock factor turned right down with the blues and lounge cranked up. The result is a much more... Read review

Review of Come Find Yourself - Fun Lovin' Criminals by gches

Advantages: Great album with absolutely excellent songs
Disadvantages: Nothing

...Well the Fun Lovin' Criminals exploded on the scene with this debut album Come Find Yourself, and have proved why people are sitting up and taking notice. The songs on this album range between mellow chilled songs and poppy rocky numbers both of which are excellent. Obviously the The Fun Lovin' Criminals track, Scooby Snacks, We Have All The Time In The World and I Can't Get With That are some of the tracks that you will love after a few listens. The music here is just generally good all round music, and is great to listen to in any mood, night or day.... Read review

Review of Abandoned Shopping Trolley Hotline - Gomez by Emmak

Advantages: It's got songs Gomez fans have wanted for ages, like Beatles cover"Getting Better"
Disadvantages: It's not as coherent as previous albums.

...So this is Gomez's 3rd album. Only instead of recording a new batch of songs, this is a collection of b-sides and rarities. I've been a Gomez fan from as near to the beginning as you can be, without being a school/college/uni. friend. I saw them live twice at Glastonbury 1998, when they did 2 sets, having heard 78 Stone Wobble. I've since seen them a further 5 times live, so with being such a big fan, I've got quite a few of these tracks already. Like "Steve McCroski", which if you've seen them live you'll quite possible know it as the first track they played. If you like Gomez there is no reason why you won't like this album. "Bring You're Lovin' Back Here" is a good Gomez jumping song, with a rousing chorus. "Buena Vista" is a beautiful as the butterfly in the opening line, with Ian Ball's voice floating gently across...
