Hello, so what do you want to know? I'm a northerner living in London, because that's where it's supposedly all happening. I enjoy music, comedy and going out to gigs in my spare time.

So this is Gomez's 3rd album. Only instead of recording a new batch of songs, this is a collection of b-sides and rarities. I've been a Gomez fan from as near to the beginning as you can be, without being a school/college/uni. friend. I saw them live twice at Glastonbury 1998, when they did 2 sets, having heard 78 Stone Wobble. I've since seen them a further 5 times live, so with being such a big fan, I've got quite a few of these tracks already. Like "Steve McCroski", which if you've seen them live you'll quite possible know it as the first track they played.
If you like Gomez there is no reason why you won't like this album. "Bring You're Lovin' Back Here" is a good Gomez jumping song, with a rousing chorus. "Buena Vista" is a beautiful as the butterfly in the opening line, with Ian Ball's voice floating gently across the gorgeous melody.
Phillips electrical company have an advert on tv, which has at the end bands covering the Beatles song "Getting Better". A while ago one such band was Gomez. Only a few bars of it are played in the trailer and it is only now that you can hear the full version here. A word of warning, if you are a Beatles fan, you probably won't like this, believing it to be the devils work. But you are being too precious about the Beatles, and actually it's great.
If you're not yet converted to the Gomez way of thinking, then I suggest you buy their first album first and work from there. Because this is just a collection of b-sides it's not as coherent as the first 2 albums, and it's not supposed to be. And it therefore fits in better once you have the whole Gomez picture.

I am aware of internet search facilitiies, at the time this opinion was written it was aimed as an information service.AS those were NEW increases by BT which some people may not be aware off. There are still many people on low incomes who do not still have a BT Landline. thank you. ciao!

I like the way you detailed this.
I like Gomez a lot too, after being introduced on the way to Silverstone for the British GP about 4 years ago or something and I liked their sounds.
I bought their first album and then their second, Liquid Skin and when I saw that they had a third CD out I got that too. At the time I didn't realise it was a collection of B-sides and rarities and was actually quite disappointed at it all...in fact, my opinion in Ciao was quite downtrodden of it...
For first timers, get their first album, Bring It On, like Emmack has said!
One thing's for sure, Gomez have always sounded far older than their tender years would ... more
seem to suggest, and as a consequence they've pretty much managed to corner the ever growing too-old-to-rock-and-roll-too-young-to-knit domestic market. Comforted b...

Advantages: Some fantastic songs, great alternative versions, slightly less inhibited due to the fact its a mixed bag Disadvantages: Patchy - I doubt many people will like all of it
