Advantages: Excellent Choice of Songs Disadvantages: None
...:
1. Jerusalem
2. Land of My Fathers
3. You Raise Me Up
4. Danny Boy
5. Abide With Me
*Jerusalem is my ultimate favourite track on this CD. It is beautiful and they sing it stylishly.
*Land of my Fathers is not on my list only because it is my anthem, it is such a strong and powerful song, sung with so much passion.
*You Raise Me Up is an awsome song, although the only other version I can think of is the one by Westlife. It was definately the right choice for this CD.
*Danny Boy is such a nice song I coudn't leave it out. Again, it well deserves a place on my Top 5 list.
*Abide with Me was my first ever solo (I play a brass instrument), played when I was only 6 years old, I have liked the song ever since.
I strongly advise anyone who has not yet bought this CD to purchase it. It will entertain you for hours even if it is not your usual...

Advantages: Wonderful album! Disadvantages: Was it really 20 odd years ago?
...a classic as boisterous sounding as Brass in Pocket is doesn’t sound as stunning with an acoustic set, thankfully this isn’t the case with Brass in Pocket - it flows beautifully throw out leaving you remembering the day you first heard the original version.
Hymn to Her was obviously one track that would stand up to the test of be coming an acoustic set. The original version was a very mellow sounding indeed melancholic track. On Isle of View Hynde shows indeed how poignant Hymn to Her actually is with a stunning version backed with a very simplistic backing track. A superb version of what to me is perhaps The Pretenders greatest work. If you were to only listen to one track on the whole of this album then I’d suggest Hymn to Her , but then I am biased as this track in any form just happens to be my favourite Pretenders track.
If I was to name...

...Urban Hymns By The Verve was released in 1997 on HUT records and got media acclaim right along the board. It is probably one of the best albums of the 90’s with a very indie sound. Songs like ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’ and ‘The Drugs Don’t Work’ have become classics in there own write. Apart form those tracks there are also other great songs such as ‘Catching The Butterfly’ and my favourite song on the album ‘Sonnet’ this song contains classic Verve and lyrical genius. This is Richard Ashcroft’s masterpiece and what ever he does as a solo artist he will never beat this....
