Abide With Me - Dame Clara Butt

Advantages: Good songs with a good dancey beat, good cover and layout.
Disadvantages: A few sameish sounding tracks, a couple of songs are slightly boring.

...I recently purchased this cd because i loved the songs 'love don't cost a thing' and 'play'. But the problem is that a lot of the tracks on this cd are very sameish and i find myself getting confused with which songs which! She obviously has the talent as many of the songs prove, but this album dosn't seem to be her best effort, although there are quite a few good tracks. There is a definate latino feel to the album, especially in the tracks 'carino' 'dame' and 'si ya se acabo'. But some slow boring songs drag the album down. Don't get me wrong this is a very good cd, with a lot of tracks that just make you want to get up, dance and sing along, but there is the odd song that forces me to click the next button on my cd player. The CD speaks all that in less words! Wales is habitually referred to as "the land of song", being predominantly famous for harpists, male voice choirs, and solo artists including Sir Geraint Evans, Dame Gwynneth Jones, Dame Anne Evans, Ivor Novello, Madam Adelina Patti, John Cale, Tom Jones, Bryn Terfel, Ozzy Osbourne, Mary Hopkin, Katherine Jenkins, Shirley Bassey and Aled Jones. Advantages: Every number is memorable.
Disadvantages: none

...There's no other film series in the history of cinema that has as much consistently good music and particularly title themes/songs as Bond. If you listen to this compilation you won't get bored for a second, every ones a winner, from Dame Shirley singing Goldfinger like theres no tomorrow to McCartney's thumpingly good Live & Let Die - (one of his best post Beatles numbers!). We also have the sheer delights of Satchmo singing for me the most beautiful Bond song - We Have all the Time in the World, from Her Majesty's Secret Service and Carly Simons excellent rendition of Marvin Hamlisch's Nobody Does it Better (Spy who Loved Me). But for me what stands out about this record is just how brilliant John Barry is as a tunesmith (he wrote most of the stuff on here) and I have to say with little exception the music has gone seriously...
