Orchestra, and its associated choruses in selections from some of the choral-orchestral blockbusters they recorded for Telarc between 1979 and 1993, in consistently excellent sound. Shaw's unrivalled mastery of this repertory shines through in every selection on the disc, not least in the excerpts that frame the program: the final pages of the "Prologue in Heaven" from Boito'sMefistofele, and the towering conclusion of Mahler'sSymphony No. 8, both magnificently done. Just one warning: after listening to this, you're likely to find yourself hurrying back to buy the recordings of the complete works.--Ted Libbey

Absolution is the 2003 album by Muse. It is massively acclaimed, winning the 21st best album ever by NME, and I have to agree!
Muse are an English rock band with an alternative feel to their music, and this is what drew me to them and their music. This IS a rock album, but it's like nothing I've heard before or since. The whole thing is totally new, and that's because of a few key elements:
1) Matthew Bellamy's voice. This guy has an abnormality in his vocal chords, meaning they didn't develop properly. Because of this, he can sing in falsetto and vibrato (very high), which creates an almost space age, alien sounding music.
2) Solid guitar - the guitar and bass on this album are some of the best ever. Incredibly complex lead guitar can be found throughout, and the basslines are heavy and complex too. The fast paced music ...
Advantages: Fuller looking lashes Disadvantages: not cheap
Like most women I have tried my fair share of mascara's over the years and have been quite happy with the Maybelline Great Lash mascara for some time now. I try to (if I remember) replace my old tube of mascara every 6 months, but this time instead of buying my normal replacement tube I decided to try Max Factor's Masterpiece mascara, probably largely swayed by the adverts (the one with the girl from Memoirs of a Geisha), to see if it was any better, plus it was on offer in Boots at the time which I must admit was the final deciding factor. I think it normally retails at £8.99 for a 4.5ml tube which for me is quite expensive. It comes in three colours: Rich Black; Black Brown and Deep Blue. I tried Rich Black.
The blurb claims that the new iFX brush that comes with the Masterpiece mascara is the first of its kind. It is designed to ...
Advantages: Epic rock songs, intelligent song writing Disadvantages: Extremely experimental
. The traditional Egyptian music or North African music has influenced a lot of superb pieces."
Butterflies and Hurricanes - ( Fights and battles have begun / Revenge will surely come / Your hard times are ahead ) - 10/10
An epic masterpiece and the standout track on the album for me personally. Words can't express the majestic sound which Muse have concocted with this stunner of a song. It steals a trick from "Citizen Erased" and divides the song in to seperate sections, very much following the Radiohead formula but churning out an absolute gem. Bellamy's voice creeps in at a barely audible volume, but it soon ascends in an instantly catching bridge towards what's almost an unbreakable chorus. The sound is huge. Just about every instrument that could make a noise does in the six minutes that Butterflies and Hurricanes occupies your speakers for ...
