Though it can never really compare to being involved in the hysteria that is a Muse concert, this DVD is a great chance to see just why this band is universally known as the best live act in Britain.
In Muse's history, this gig was pretty huge, and one of their best. It was filmed during the Glastonbury festival in 2004, which they headlined to critical acclaim. This DVD really shows you why.
From the moment that Matt emerges, draped in his long white coat and partnered with a roar that shakes the TV screen, It is obvious that this gig is pretty special. They open with 'Hysteria', as Matt fists the air to the backdrop of the famous synth. lick. The action continues as follows...
Live Show: Glastonbury Fest. 2004
1. "Hysteria" 2. "New Born" 3. "Sing For Absolution" 4. "Muscle Museum" 5. "Apocalypse Please" 6. "Ruled By Secrecy" 7. "Sunburn" 8. "Butterflies And Hurricanes" 9. "Bliss" 10. "Time Is Running Out" 11. "Plug In Baby"
ENCORE
12. "Blackout"
Unlike a lot of live DVDs, this is a breath of fresh air in that it actually focuses on the frontman and the band itself, rather than crowd shots and pretty lights. It not just covers the Glastonbury gig, but several others, to include all the tracks from their 'Absolution' album, so if you find your favourite song missing on the track list, no doubt it's in the special features. Couple of sneaky easter eggs too.
Extras
1. "Fury" - (Live at Wiltern Theater, Los Angeles) 2. "The Small Print" (TSP) - (Live at Earls Court, London) 3. "Stockholm Syndrome" - (Live at Earls Court, London) 4. "The Groove" - (Live in Cincinnati, San Diego)
[edit] Hidden Extras (Easter eggs) and Instructions
1. "Thoughts Of A Dying Atheist" - (Live at Wembley Arena) 2. "Endlessly" - (Live at Wembley Arena)
This is a DVD, really, for fans of the band. It's hard to recommend to anyone who hasn't heard their music before (presumably you'd want to start with the CD's?) You already know how spectacular they are (especially if you went to Wembley!) so get the DVD to reminisce, to experience or to gawp in awe of the living God that is Matt Bellamy.

Missed Glastonbury 2004 show because I made the outrageous error of going to see Orbital's last ever gig instead (rubbish). Went to Wembley last week though. Unforgettable.
Great review.
