Freddie Fresh'sAbstractFunk Theoryis the seventh in this fantastic series, following the ... more
lead of DJs such as Colin Dale, Ross Allen and Circulation. Freddie Fresh's original selection reflect his unabashed love of analogue grooves and enthusiasm for artiste-producers that take the bare bones of classic techno, house and electro to a place of shadows and fog. With two exclusive tracks of his own, it becomes clear through the course of this album that Fresh prefers a more cerebral sort of throb, the kind provided by contributors like Dan Curtin, Man Parrish, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May, Russ Gabriel and a post-flower child Cat Stevens.Abstract Funk Theorybegins with Cherry Bomb's beautiful "Matrix". The album next turns to the Detroit meets electro groove of Man "Hip-Hop Be-Bop" Parrish and Fresh's "Smooth", the funky proto-electro boogaloo of Quadrant Six's "Body Mechanic", COD's unrecognisable instrumental version of Gil Scott Heron's "The Bottle" and Cat Stevens on a far-out electronic tip. The crunching tech-funk of Dan Curtin's "Voices from Another Age", Inter City's "Groovin Without a Doubt" and Russ Gabriel's "Airbourne" are the real highlights, especially for those who love techno with a delicate yet edgy beauty.Abstract Funk Theorymakes for a fascinating insight into the Djing style of Freddie Fresh. --Reuben Dessay

Advantages: nice enough sandwiches, healthy, part of meal deal, fresh, variety Disadvantages: not overly great, expensive, unappealing packaing, availibility
Normally when I go into boots, I?m in there for one of their meal deals where you can get a sandwich, a drink, and a side such as a chocolate bar, crisps, fruit or a cereal bar for a smashing £2.99. Usually I?ll opt for one of Boot?s own wraps or sandwiches however on a couple of occasions I have been tempted by something else sitting on the shelf, and these come in the form of Fresh Organic Sandwiches.
?Fresh Organics? (FO) produce a wide range of products including sandwiches, wraps, toasties, salads and rolls. In Boots, there are always sandwiches and wraps, usually salads and occasionally yoghurts and rolls however I have only ever seen the latter in one boots and that was a large one in London. The sandwiches are always in the food section, alongside the other sandwiches which are in the fridge. The FO sandwiches are normally ...
Advantages: Interesting flavours and a lovely winter beer. Disadvantages: VERY strong!
I was in a bit of a quandary about how to categorize this following beer ~ I have heard it described as a Barley Wine, an Old Ale, a Winter Ale AND a Porter! The brewery?s web site lists it as a Porter, so I thought I would go with that. It is a strong brew that has made it onto the Moor Beer Company?s permanent list of beers ~ Old Freddy Walker. We got to try it at the Rotherham Real Ale and Music Festival, held at the end of February in the Technical College in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
~~~THE BREWERY.
Old Freddy Walker is brewed by the Moor Beer Company. They are based in Ashcott, which is not far from Bridgewater in Somerset. The brewery (housed in an old dairy) was founded in 1996 as a small-scale brewery capable of brewing five barrels of beer. The capacity has since increased to ten barrels and the range of beers ...
Advantages: Freddie Foxxx is a dangerous animal, making the KONEXION with lyrical POETRY and raw beats Disadvantages: Okay, so two productions for Freddie Foxxx Music Inc. sound LAZY (e.g. on ANGEL)
to try out another of DJ Premiers' tasty quisine of instrumentals, baked in the studios' underground kitchen. Consequently, Freddie Foxxx flows well over the production, especially around the chorus that brands too many emcees as being LAZY!!!
LAZY!!!, finds DJ Premier lacing an AWKARD and yet, lovely instrumental that runs on animated horns and brass trumpets, infused with jazzy electronic guitars. His production scheme is highly impressive and satisfies my appetite as a rap listener of creative uses of imstruments in Hip Hop.
