NEVER say NEVER!
Like love, I guess, music is a funny old thing and, in my case at least, has proven, without the right inspiration, an impossible subject to write about. On how many occasions, I wonder, have I written that 'RICHADA does not DO music reviews'?………
Well, bear with me, because here comes my very first, so thanks Al, you have removed my writers block on this particular subject……
……and in some style!
RICHADA AND MUSIC
I like music, I always have, however, unlike my wife, I could never actually claim to be passionate about it. In truth I could manage to live a life without music - much of which I merely regard as noise pollution anyway. However I know what I like and, in spite of the last sentence...

Advantages: A classic rock album Disadvantages: NONE
...further accentuates the growing storytelling of Bon Jovis lyrics, an aspect of their craft that would garentee them longevity.
"Homebound Train" allows the shackles to be removed for all out hard rock. One could be forgiven for calling Bon Jovi too comecial but when the so called comercial songs are fused with integrity then it is a flawed case.
"Wild is the Wind" points to the future direction the band would explore more on Keep the Faith, in terms of both structure and lyrical content. The acoustic accompaniment gives the beginning of the song a certain majesty.
"Ride Cowboy Ride" is just over a minute of acoustic singing to the style of an old radio. Even though a stand alone track it somehow feels like an intro the next song.
"Stick to your Guns" is a call to arms to chase your dreams, to try to live them and to never back down...

Advantages: One of the greatest Jazz tracks of all time Disadvantages: None
...This has to be one of the greatest jazz tracks off all time and I can't believe there are zero reviews on it! Where are all the jazz musios on here?
This track got to number 3 in the charts in about 1962 and this is the highest ever position in the commercial charts for a jazz track. The track is an instrumental with solos featured by Saxaphone, drums and piano.
The piece itself is called Take 5 as it is written in the time signature of 5/4. If you don't read music that will mean nothing if you do it will mean counting in 5 rather than 4.
I play drums and find it easiest counting the rhythm (6 letters no vowels!) in 2 and then 3.
If you have never heard the track buy it - I guarantee you will thern buy the rest of Brubecks stuff like on the Album, Take The A Train, Blue Rondo Al A turk etc - in fact there is nothing you can not like...
