Album Notes: Delaney & Bonnie: Delaney Bramlett, Bonnie Bramlett.
Album Reviews: Rolling Stone (2/6/03, p.65) - 4 stars out of 5 - \"...A wonderfully earthy mix of blue-eyed soul, gospel and country, brimming with grit and longing...\"
Advantages: Some decent Southern blues Disadvantages: Too technical and not enough feeling
...Perhaps a little ironically, there is a gap in Clapton's recent "Complete Clapton" album; a gap which Delaney and Bonnie's "On Tour With Eric Clapton". Clapton had toured with Delaney and Bonnie with his band Blind Faith, but finding himself at a loose end after they split up, he opted to join them again to keep his hand in. He must have enjoyed the experience, as he later took some of the band he played with here and recorded with them as Derek and the Dominos; a band to whom the original version of the Clapton classic "Layla" was credited.
The title of the album was an obvious attempt by Delaney and Bonnie to cash in on the fame of their new found friend, as even by as early as 1970 Eric Clapton was becoming an internationally known guitarist. By comparison, Delaney and Bonnie had already been dropped by two record labels. Whilst...

Eric, Delaney and Bonnie. Review ofOn Tour With Eric Clapton (Collector's Edition) - Delaney & Bonnieby

Advantages: Powerful, upbeat, superb recordings Disadvantages: Not long enough
...To be honest, I am not at all a fan of Eric Clapton! And to be quite honest, being only 18 myself I don't even know who Delaney and Bonnie are. I am told by my dad that they were part of a group called Delaney and Bonnie and friends which once featured many different people, like, the genius that is Eric Clapton.

I normally wouldn't listen to this type of music, but even as a non-musical person I could appreciate...

Advantages: Not a Clapton CD, more an experimental showcase. Disadvantages: Not a Clapton CD, more an experimental showcase.
...Favourite song ever?
Layla comes close, so does "Wonderful tonight"
Clapton is amazing, folk, country, rock, blues and well, just about any rift you can think of, he nails it better than a butcher with a rabbit and no lettuce left.
On tour with Eric Clapton and Delaney & Bonney is a weird mixture of amazing guitar and powerful vocals, I agree but where does it make its impression in an already over rated guitar twanging, plectrum pluckitty plucking finger strumming rock and roll music.
Clapton nails everything he plays and this time he experiments with some amazing sounds. Now, the clue to the date this was made is a simple mathematical equation, it has 8 tracks. Remember those famous Video size cartridges that plugged into your whole dashboard? Yeah, of course you can't but I can.
Delaney & Bonney were short lived R&B singers...
